I apologize then if I do not see it as you do, my young fellow!! I take things like this seriously. These women have been so hurt and used by society that they do not even regard themselves with respect. Most of them see themselves as mere walking vaginas and nothing more. Society continues to push on them this image and they try all they can to build up an image of toughness to hide the pain behind it all. Imagine that same girl in the picture in a room alone, alone with her thoughts. Things need to change and it is not just from the side of the women but the men in our society. As long as these women are treated as rags, you will see more of them act out in the much the same way. Not sure how many of our men folk can sit calling them bitches when he has in one way or another contributed to making them so.

No need for an apology.  I totally understand where you are coming from.  On one hand it pains me to see my sisters behave this way and on another I cant help but to clown on them for partaking in whorish activities.

What is the dictate of the peer pressure? - It is POVERTY.

In a society where more than half of the population live in abject poverty, survival of the fittest becomes the order of the day. Do you find ''aristo'' movement in such a high volume as obtained in Nigeria with developed society such as the UK where you reside? The answer is NO.

poverty is not the only dictate of peer pressure, belonging to the "cool girls on campus" or greed in not being satisfied with pocket money given from home is, trust me if you see professional aristo girls you will know money or poverty is very far from them.
a lot of peole live in abject poverty, but what about the the ones who are from well to do,rich homes?what about the children born with silver spoons who are into the aristo runs?doesnt this show that the problems run far deeper than simply poverty?
the reason you dont see a higher  incident of aristo girls in the uk is because of the secluded way of living, nothing to do with means of livelihood, ask any nigerian you know about the many aristo girls in kent university, just to mention one uni in uk all the way to aberdeen fully paid for by aristos

Quote from: Pataki on March 19, 2009, 06:25 PM

If you closely watched that video - the girl freely used derogatory words to her feminine side just for the pecuniary benefits she derives from men who offer her money either for sex or as beneficial gifts of friendship. Did she just learn about this? NO. It is what she has seen from the society in Nigeria.

the point is that this happens everywhere in the world, there are nigerian girls who are funded by aristos, ask any south east londoner and they ll tell you there are aristo girls there too,did they learn this from the british society??we both know the answer to that

Quote from: Pataki on March 19, 2009, 06:25 PM

If every rich Nigerian who engages in Aristo truly worked for his money as it should be like, do you not think, aristos would be cubbed? How many people here in the UK are ready to throw away money on silly university girls whom they know should be studying and when prostitutes are readily available?

If a Nigerian girl wants to study let her study. If she wants to go into prostitution, let her do that full time. But NEVER should they think our citadel of learning can be turned into brothels, which is a reflection of the poor economic state of the country.

trust me,there are aristos who work hard for their money, they simply want to be seen or cavort with young and beautiful girls who will not have otherwise given them the time of the day if not for the money, the thing is that prostitutes connote all the negative things whereas,a young university undegrad connotes an innocent, unspoilt, girl next door, free of deseases e.t.c even if she isnt, hence the readiness to spend more money on them,i know at least 4 ibo girls(this is not to say ibo girls do aristos)whose aristos paid for their education, some rent while a particular girl has a lfat fully paid for by one of our prominent rich people who told her to make sure noone knows, same as yoruba girls in aberdeen, wales e.t.c who are sponsored by aristos
i was shown a girl whose dad was a former minister of aviating before obj who is worse than an aristo girl.

the reasons why these girls do aristos is not simply as a result of poverty, but greed, belonging to the big girls e.t.c
there are underlying reasons for this which is the moral decadence in the nigerian societies, when a girl who gets 20,000 naira a month wants to live in a 150,000 naira room in moremi or whereever, wants to ride a car,and wear expensive jewelries, that isnt the fault of the politicians,if we were to think along these lines ,then all the young men who are undergrads should have been running around killing and robbing everybody on the same scale

I do not understand why people revile these girls but are able to tolerate 419, militancy, area boys, pen robbers (aka Fela) better. All these a symptoms of a failed society.
These girls practices prostitution because there are not equipped or in a position to do the others.

We should condemn the society at large that condones "making it" a whichever way? Since we all love the Song "yahoozee" and "Maga don pay, shout halelluya". I wish some girl will sing "Aristo don pay shout halelluya "also. Because I think we are discriminating againt women, as far as societal vices are concerned.

Our political, traditional, social and moral values has broken down, we celebrate corruption in our homes, villages, societies, churches and mosques. If these girls we all condemn is suddenly to make it as a result of her prostitution or by marrying a big man. Hereby resulting in  her "Levels Changing" by being chauffeur driven in  a jeep and spreading some money around (including paying tithes), you will see every body singing her praise and giving her awards.

It is not as if there are not pedophiles or aristos abroad, it is just that it is not condoned and if you are caught you will be punished, whether you are a president, minister or cab driver.

I honestly do not know how we came to this position, where making it any way has become the norn.

Is the subject of these young girls discussion worse than the following?

1. Politicians discussing and arguing how to share the monthly allocation (national cake).
2. Big guys including politicians, generals, ex-generals, Obas and Emirs discussing their oil bunkering strategy.
3. Traders discussing the latest strategy to short change their customers.
4. Petrol station, oil dealers and marketers strategizing how to supply low grade  petroleum at less quantity.
5. Policemen, LASMA or road safety discussing the latest strategy on how to collect money from motorists.
6. Pastors strategizing on what to preach to congregation to make them drop more irrespective of whether they have any
     means of income.
And lots more.

Now can somebody get a hold of any of the above situation and post in on Youtube and nairaland?

Finally I do not blame these Girls. I squarely put on the society. Are you telling the that the parents of these very young girls do not know that they are living beyond their means. Can the parents not relate the allowance they give the girls to their lifestyles?. Can their Churches relate the tithes they pay to their allowance or income as a student? the questions go on and on,

@ Poster
While I dissapprove of prostitution, especially among undergrads I find it mischeivous of U to av ropped in d name of d Greatest University of Lagos in dis yah lowly post.Like many posters av rightly pointed out prostitution, like other social vices among undergrads is ubiquitous all over nigerian academic institutions. And there is no evidence on d video or produced by u to show d girls ar realy from unilag. For yor education Unilag, annualy, turns out one of most responsible, credible, resourcesful and employable female graduates in Nigeria. For instance jst take a head count of female staff of Multinational Oil Coys(known 4 their meticulous & rigorous thoroughness in graduates recruitment) you will see Akoka gals invariably outnumber any other top College products in Nigeria. Its a good tin to draw our attentions to rots in our society but it wil b a great disservice to wrongly hang d stigma on Unilag, God please kill d theives and let us b a happy people again!

@solomon

well wise words from a wise name but then u ve forgotten there is always an exception i everything.there are the good gals in unilag(your tone shows u must be an ex or still there) but majority of these gals are so loose.your location shows in are in london and maybe u ve been therre for quite a while and u might ve lost touch of wassup now.once u can flash your cash,u will lay one of these gals.the precis is that an average unilag babe is a gold digger irrespective of her financial background that is why the first place a yahoo boy goes when he 'hammers' is unilag.they are fake and want to live outside there means.there are brilliant ones no doubt but the bad ones ve overshadowed the good ones, God help them

This is really terrible and it can only be solved from the root cause and not by mentioning the names of schools. Our moral values in all aspects of life is totally going down.

Prostitution
Examination Malpractice
Corruption
Bribery
Cheating
Duping

I mean we are loosing our moral values from the students, to the leaders, the market women, traders, business people, civil servants, millitary personel, customs, police, immigration and religious organisations.

We have to go back to the root and redeem our society before we get to the point of no return.

tpia do you have it anywhere?
i would love to see it.
the problem is that Nigerians are hypocrites of the highest order.
the things that happen sexually in Naija are virtually unprintable.
the truth is that it is not a Nigerian problem, it is universal.
The moral depravity is a global problem.
every country and region is trying to see who can lower the bar fastest and lowest.
Ngerian university girls are worrisome in their conduct and moral bankruptcy.there is no need calling unilag, they are all the same without exception.
i mean without a single exception.

i beg leave poverty for this equation.
this matter has nothing to do with poverty.
some of these girls doing it have no relationship with poverty at all.
some just want to leave a more expensive life, some want to expand moral boundaries, some just want to have fun (despite the depravity in question) while some just want to leave out the maxim that stolen water is better.
the truth is that neither the buyer nor the seller ever gets satisfied in the transactions.
each party keeps going for more and grows more daring with each passing transaction.
poverty plays a very minute part in this matter.
that is why it is a tendency that cuts across both the developed and developing world.

I laugh when people start attributing this to poverty i have one question for them, those morally bankrupt and shameless Africans in big brother are also poverty stricken right?

those who are saying that these acts are not present in the UK or elsewhere are severely ignorant.
i repeat, this is a global malaise.
Sub saharan Africa could have avoided this if we avoided globalisation as it concerns technology.
some might say it is a small price to pay as it is a personal matter.the moment we let channel o, BBA, internet and all the cable channels in, we created  universal community where standards became uniform and decadence filtered within minutes.
it might be refined (for want of a better word) in the developed world but even on that front, Nigerian girls and men are catching up.

You are hitting the nail on the head, The entertainment media has really destroyed our values. People watching porn on tv and the internet. Just take a look at the romance section here on nairaland and you can see where we are heading to. Our moral values and motivation is almost gone.

As a matter of fact i am ashamed of all the religious society both Islam and Christianity in curbing this vices. Our leaders don't care what kind of information the youths are having access to. what is the information and national orientation department doing for Gods sake. We have so many misplaced priorities.

My brother globalization has both the positive and negative side and it is left for us to decide what we really want out of it. China is benefiting from globalization and at the same time regulating the kind of information his citizens has access to not that i support all its actions.

We have to start somewhere and right now to correct these trends or we will be doomed in the future. Our students do not want to read anymore, all they want to have is fast success, people are also shouting internet business, investing in stock while missing the main priorities that we actually need as a developing nation.

Let me stop here am getting sick and derailing this thread.

on the highlighted portions of your quote;
i have a problem with benevolent dictatorship (or stuff of such liking). the moment you restrict information, you think it is only porn on cable and internet Yar'Adua and his friends will firewall? They will decide what is good for you or not.
Irrespective of the evils of globalisation, no govt or individual has the right or moral obligation to decide what the other party has access to.
the easiest route to slavery is restriction of information.
it is still a question of the individual and discipline.
Even the religous leaders you are referring to are fighting their own moral battles.
don't be deceived by their pious outlook and hypocritical comments.
a few have won the battle and i am sure are trying to help the fallen and wounded stand but they are in a minority and issues of discipline are easier said than done.
my disappointment with religious leaders is more to do with decay in the moral values of the Nigerian society (beyond issues of sexuality).
even in developed countries where sexual morality is as bad or even worse than naija, values like honesty, respect for humanity, appreciation of hard work, timeliness and integrity as a whole are still ingrained and upheld to a large degree.
Here everything has been thrown to the dogs.
the political leaders you are talking about are the biggest patrons of these girls and boys in these videos we are talking about.
why will students read?when those in positions of authority did not earn their positions by working hard or earning it?
until we see this as a collective problem, we are stewed as a society.
hypocrisy will only make things worse.
