New York Vs London
« on: March 21, 2009, 01:04 PM »

The New York vs. London debate has become a hot topic over the past years, but lately, with booming economies in both cities and trendy restaurants moving into old industrial neighborhoods, the two are looking more like mirror images.

Nairalanders what do u think about this two cities. Which is the financial capital of the world, the most global.

Dude, are you serious? Booming economies in both cities? Have younot heard of the recession that has struck wall street so badly that the govt had to bail them out? And trendy restaurants moving into old industrial neighborhoods? I think the hospitality industry is in for a free fall.

London is the world's global capital, no question. It receives more international visitors than New York, Las Vegas and Washington combined! (source Wikipedia - Tourism)

London Rules,

that's not exactly the reason, there are many countries in the world with 'easier' visas than the bristish visa, e.g Dubai
it probably has more to offer tourists than New York, it has a mixture of everything from rural to fast paced city life
several parks and original architecture remember New York is mostly glass and tall office buildings with no character

New York skyline is boring and no different to a thousand skylines in Asia and throughout the world - London's is unique and instantly recognisable.

the only thing new york wins hands down is the award for relentless self promotion and ignorance of everywhere else - which pretty much goes for new yorkers too

shopping and entertainment is no better than any major european city
most cab drivers cant even speak english
and NY nightlife is about as cutting edge as a cashmere sweater
