some ribald jive, isn't it?, do you think this would help?, if you have a dirty hand is natural to want to throw stones to hide it [just a proverb], why don't we keep it clean.

First of, i believe people should express their opinion no matter what side of the gun they're at but, this divide Nigeria gospel does not make any sense. If and when Biafra secede from Nigeria, they will still be geographical neighbors. What stops Nigeria from attacking Biafra? Does/will Biafra have the weaponry to protect herself from such attack? The marriage between north and south called Nigeria, forced on us by the British, was so unfortunate. But, just like we can't control our biological parents, we might as well live with it.

Most of your reasons for separation can be solved without dividing the entire country. Infact, the people and government of eastern states can effectively solve these problems by themselves. Mind you, i'm Igbo and don't see the need/benefit of dividing the country.

this is why we Africans are backward, if you see that something is wrong change it, or you would live in confusion all your life, you still haven't mentioned how the eastern governments can stop the religious fanatics in the north from attacking our people, please listen to yourself, you don't have to be an Igbo to make sense.

@ 925

Nigeria has indeed got a big problem. however the population will never get to see it. Maybe it's ignorance, or stupidity or blindness, but whatever it is, it is making Nigeria to go backward instead of moving it forward. First of all look at how some people try to justify the corruption by putting the blame on poverty. But then the corruption is alimenting the economical deficiency. Or maybe God is just putting them through a hard time before he finally blesses them. And if he has to when does he intend to do it? Nigeria has been independent for 46 years now and nothing has come out to prove the improvement of that nation. As a matter of fact only negative things are associated with the nation. Nigerians are only capable of looking down on people. All they have is big mouth. Words and not Facts!

I have said it and I will repeat it, there are two many differences in Nigeria: too many tribes, to many traditions, too many superstition. Until they will believe witches exist, native doctor can solve problems, common human beings can perform miracle, there shall never be progress.

Doctors amputate parts of the body when they become a threat to the proper function of the entire system!

However dividing Nigeria will just be a step. And if it should be ever divided, who shall keep the name Nigeria: the igbos, the yorubas, the hausas? What will happen to the minorities?

I am contradicting myself and i know that. Division seems to be one of the most tangible solutions but I still think this could cause a great conflict between the tribes!

So what stops YOU from giving suggestions on how the eastern governments can stop the religious fanatics in the north from attacking our people? All this "break-up Nigeria refrain", does NOT solve anything. Alright, if Nigeria is broken up today, will it stop the Igbo from migrating back to the northern part of Nigeria to continue their business? NO!!
Go to other parts of West Africa, you will see them there. So what's new? And what will change? Nothing.

Each time a riot occurs in the North, do the stakeholders (both the victims & the govt.), sit down to address the issues & look for long-lasting solutions? NO. Instead, by the following week, they all go back to their businesses as usual and life continues as usual, until the next wahala erupts.

And theĀ  cycle continues. Abeg, I don talk my own. Those who want to break up Nigeria, should be the first to put themselves & their children on the battlefield. Chikena!

4,  the wests that helped Nigeria during the civil war knows better now { people should always remember that, hello! terrorism } if the Igbos wants to leave Nigeria because of the terroristic phsycopatic murderous Islamo extreemistic nature of the north, believe me they will, all that is needed is just to concentrate on that and let the world know how southerners { mostly Igbos } are slaughtered in the North  often and hammer, hence the CIA predicted that Nigeria would not last more than 15 years and that is a prove that the United state won't mind it happening and won't stop it and infact would support it once it gets the right deal.

So why do the Igbo keep going back to the North for business, after each riot? Eh? If they all hate the Northerners so much, doesn't it make sense for them to stay home?

For your information, the North is a very large & diverse place. Not all Northerners think, behave or act the same way! Neither do they all practise the same religion. There are deviants among them, well, tell me which tribe or community does NOT have its' own bad eggs? And those who attack guests in their community are almajiris - bandits, for want of a better word. Even among the North, a lot of them are despised.

There are problems in every community & among every tribe. The best way is to look for ways of resolving it, not to push the responsibility to some mythical govt. official, because the citizens are too indifferent to be part of the solution.
