@sagamite, you really sound uninformed. Who are those your folks/friends that prefer physical books?
Redman44 was absolutely correct. Even traditional universities post their assignments online. You see most of the students rushing to the internet for their asignments.
Online creates access to everyone. Traditonal University style has has held and sustained ignorance in the greater part of the population of every country for too long. But, somehow, access is getting greater now because online is breaking the barricade of ingorance.
In compelete traditional environment, when you miss your lecture, it's gone forever, but in Online, the records are there and you can replay your lectures often and often.
There is a difference between reading your uni coursework/assignment/email online and reading "Pride and Prejudice" online. @Redman44 Saying: "I don't know anyone that reads e-books" is not a generalisation, it is a fact.

I agree with guys saying your school doesnt determine what you become in life but at the same time it helps you go along way and exposes you more. it also takes away much stress from you. I talked about the stress i faced in Unilorin when i studied there. I see students staying awake every night and its sad to remember that when i got abroad and see how stress less school should be. If the university that you go to doesnt matter then it doesnt also matter to go to school at all. why should i go and spend so much on private universities in nigeria when i can spend that same amount to get a better education outside the country (thats my personal opinion).
I learnt in naija it takes some people 7 years to get PHD when you can spend less time to get that abroad. I remember how we chase bus and climb thru bus window. how we queue at bore hole for water, how we go to the bush for you know what , (bush attack) cos the toilet is scary
I dont know about other universities but the one i went to in Naija is too much stress for me to advice my enemy to go there. So if you have money to spend then try education abroad, its stress less

I can't say much about these private university. But if we need to talk about the Federal ones. Forget all the hype of yester-years, If you really wanna pass through school as well as letting school pass through you. The best you can go to as at this moment is UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN.
I can actually confirmed all the extreme transformation going on there. Structurally and academically.
Right now, that place is not for lazy peeps

I doubt if there will be any sense of absolute objectivity with this topic And as regards my view I choose UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN REASONS 1)SMOOTH ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2)AFORDABILITY 3)ACCESIBILTY TO BOTH NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE OF NIGERIA 4)QUALIFIED TUTORS 5)DISCIPLINE WITHIN THE RANK AND FILE OF BOTH STUDENTS AND STAFFS ALIKE 6)HIGHLY RELIGIOUS SETTING. U 're right bro. as far as Uni is concern in naija,UNILORIN IS BETTER BY FAR.

Don't Mind Them All, University of Ilorin is one of the best, so I can recommend Unilorin.
But your friend will surely be treated like a secondary school student because of the discipline.

]the thing be say everybody will shout their own university even though we all know what we went thru in our school. According to a site ( www.4icu.org/topAfrica) for 2009 ranking the Nigerian university with the highest ranking is University of Ilorin (33rd position) here is another site that shows university of benin as the highest ( http://www.webometrics.info/top100_continent.asp?cont=africa ) and its are standing at 68th position. I studied at University of Ilorin but I cant advice my enemy to go there even though its standing as one of the best in nigeria. I now study at Tshwane Unversity of Technology in SOuth Africa and the difference is toooooooooooooooo much. Until Naija university changes by God's grace my kids wont study there cos when you study outside of Nigeria you see the difference. Our governtment is killing our education and they send their own kids outside the country. some of our leaders even studied abroad and they know the differnece but they would never go home and implement what they see. our lecturers go out and study under good condition but come home to be sadist and are always happy to fail student. In in my department here in south africa if students fail a lecturer can be fired for it but in Unilorin lecturers are excited to fail students. SO SAD
UNILORIN IS THE GREATEST IN NIGERIA. GREAT, GREAT, GREATEST UNILORIN!
