why would Nokia bother? even government cartographers cant accurately map naija, especially given the poor zone plans and post codes we have, not to mention duplicate street names, constantly moving businesses etc.
so you naijans are heavy buyers of Nokia's torchlight and FM phones, is that incentive enough to waste time and resources mapping a vast terrain especially given that we dont have interesting POIs, traffic information relay radios, etc etc.
when city and town planning improves to at least the level of the FCT Abuja, and the other infrastructure are there, and naijans actually start using the 'smart' functions of smartphones, perhaps some map vendor out there may build one. or you can get a GPS device and map out your area and upload to OpenstreetMaps.com as your own contribution.

While Nigeria is not represented on Nokia maps yet, Google Maps now has Nigeria integrated. The map is not quite comprehensive (I doubt if anyone really has a comprehensive map of Nigeria yet), but at least it is something useful. Some of us have been able to locate our environment and others on Google Maps.
