You need to take into consideration your audience and your goal. You need a very simple beat and a catchy chorus. Most great hits have these two elements. There is a few other things to consider, but I am not tired to make a lengthy post. |

Catchy chorus is a must. Its hard to say what exactly makes a song hit but recording/production quality is also a major factor, its ultimately all about the quality of the sound.
I don't really think theres a formula, just make sure it sounds good, has a catchy chorus and punch lines here and there, and keep your fingers crossed. Goodluck
