Congrats! on passing the SCEA exams. However, you're not really a SCEA until you pass the essay exam (part III).

Siju

p.s. I am a Nigerian Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (since 2003)  Smiley

@Everyone
I have completed all the stages , the objectives (part 1), the project(part 2) and the essay(part 3). I am a FULL SCEA.
The part ii and part iii are marked together (for those that don't understand how the marking is done.).
I just wanted to use this forum to determine how many SCEAs from Nigeria and what they are up to.

@candylips
I totally agree with you that its not about passing exams, the knowledge and practical programming experience is key.
I have about 3years java enterprise development experience. Remember Its also not about HOW LONG but HOW WELL.

@okoroboy
which certification are you referring to?
I am refering to SCEA.
if you were Sun Certified Enterprise Architect SCEA since april then i give u kudos.

@tju38
Wow, you were SCEA certified at 2003.  Shocked that sounds really good.
Why does something tell me your not based in Nigeria even though you are Nigerian (just a question).
I would really love to rub minds with you. Would you mind sharing your experience, background etc
I would really appreciate it.
my email is wale [at] shobajo [dot] com
if you prefer that medium.
Thanks.

@candylips

I read many books
But I found this book "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Mark Cade, Simon Roberts"
as the most valuable. Its straight to point and doesnt bore you with too much details.
For Part 1 you would require appropriate knowledge of J2EE design patterns (pros and cons),UML, EJB (not in details like the SCBCD exam)
and some general sense of Software Architecture.

Part 2(The Project) is entirely a different ball game , some degree of experience in designing J2EE application is essential else it would take too long to complete the Project. You required to produce "Class Diagrams", "Component Diagrams" and "Sequence Diagrams". Once you know what goes into what diagram, you would be fine.
 I would suggest you join the SCEA group at www.javaranch.com to get a feel of how others have approached the project.

Part3(the essay) ask generic questions on enterprise development as it relates to the Project

@chydon
Basically you should be familiar with the syllabus depending on the version of exam you want to write SCJP 1.4, or SCJP5.0.
If your not familiar with the syllabus visit http://www.sun.com/training/certification/java/scjp.xml for more info.
There are books on both. Personally i used "Java 2 Certification Study Guide by Sybex" for SCJP1.4.
The current cost of the exam is about N26K or more depending on the center.
