The Most Memorable Book You Read
« on: October 12, 2006, 12:10 PM »

Geez!
When i remember Danielle Steel's ZOYA,goshhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
i go speechless, what a Novel! it was soooo real,u could almost picture yourself in it, with the way the lines are relayed in the book, gives you a clear cut picture,a sharp image of what is actually being talked of.
The story line in itself was great,.it was all about a girl named Zoya.
Damn, after i read that book,i went Phew! was this a book or a film,it was sooooo detailed.

The Holy Bible is paramount, however " A Time to Kill" by John Grisham, "A year in San Fernando and "Green Days by the River" by Michael Antonthy. And "A death in Vienna" by Daniel Silva" just to name a few, are all novels that continue to impact my life significantly.

I am a keen reader. compulsive almost.

However the I could never narrow the Books down to just one. Also any one who simply mentions the bible needs to go to a good book shop.
I will list the following as highly influencial you can google them if you have time:

The Trilogy of Henry Miller's:   The Rosy Crucifixion
George Orwell's                      1984
Aldous Huxley's                       A Brave New World
Ayn Rands                               The Fountainhead
Ayn Rands                               The Atlas Shrugged
Somerset Maguams               Of Human Bondage
The Reverend Johnson's        The Yoruba - Their History

A Henry Miller Readers own comments: "This is one of the first books I really read. Perhaps the one that started me on the path of really reading and contemplating. Or as Henry put it - "It was there like a rusty nail in a log thrown up on a deserted beach during a wintry storm. I can't express it better. You walk along the beach, the air is tangy, your spirits are high, you think clearly -- not always brilliantly -- but clearly. Then the log, a phenomenal part of the substantial world: it lies there, full of experience, full of mystery. Some man hammered that nail in somewhere, sometime, somehow. There was a reason for doing it. He was making a ship for other men to sail in. Building ships was his life-work -- and his own destiny as well as the destiny of his children went into every stroke of the hammer. Now the log lies there, and the nail is rusty, but Christ, it's more than just a rusty nail -- or else everything is crazy and meaningless, "  Sort of makes you think doe'snt it,

I'm really into espionage, military kind of novels.

So most books by Ludlum,Forsyth,Le Carre,Fleming are in, ICARUS AGENDA is definitely up there.

However my most memorable,I read many years back in secondary school, it was among the Pacesetters series,it was actually my first Nigerian espionage novels , I can't remember the name now,  I think it involved some triplets & I keep remembering something like Debunmi Davies or something like that,I remember I was so excited I didn't want finish in a rush.

Boy, what would I do to lay my hands on that book,

I once read a book called the "scarlet pimpernel" can't remember who the author is though. Its a book that i read about 7 years ago and i could still remember whats its all about. It's really a book that made me believe with love most things are possible. You could protect and even kill for love. I will never forget the book for as long as i live. Another one is by shakespear "much ado about nothing" if you have read it before you will see its a memorable novel.

My first real novel was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I liked the characters because it reminded me of my sisters and I. And I assumed the position of Jo because I am the second born.

Another book that is memorable to me is Treasure Island. This book scared the hell out of me. I could not sleep in the night to the extent at 1am in the morning I picked up my agricultural science book and started cramming what Soil was-note- I do not read in the nights. I couldn't just understand how a guy with one leg (Silva) could kill able bodied men!!!
