Alright, its better to try than not to try at all!

  I have three novels in mind that answer your questions. Here we go;

1) The joker in the pack

2) An ace up my sleeve

3) I hold the four aces

Bagoma this is a give away, pleaseeeeeee :

" How dare you pry into my private papers ! You whore ! " he exclaimed harshly.
" I would rather be a whore than a crippled joke ! " she screamed at him.
Then it happened.
Blood rushed to his face, his mouth twisted, the canes slipped out of his hands and clattered on the floor. He clutched at his chest. The agony that swept through his thin body made her close her eyes. Then he toppled forward, suddenly boneless and fell at her feet.
Would he die ?

1) Who is the first person in the dialogue?
2) Who is the second person in the dialogue?
3) Name the James Hadley Chase title

     Here we go:
1) The first person in the dialogue is Mr. Herman Rolfe
2)The second person is Helga Rolfe
3)Chase title: An ace up my sleeve

     BINGO!   Kiss

No conversation about James Hadley Chase is complete without reference to

"No Orchids for Miss Blandish"

In my humble opinion the best of all his works.......

Anyone agree??

Its a bomb, may not be the best but its the very first novel he wrote, an excellent masterpiece................boy its going to be difficult to say which novel is the best, have you read the dolls bad news? (dave fenner, the same guy who busted the grissom gang) what about  Flesh of the orchids? (a masterpiece in its own right)

Long live James Hadley Chase (R.I.P)

Hmm, how about Tiger By The Tail? Or, Well Now My Pretty, or This Way For A Shroud, or Knock Knock, Who's There? Not to mention Want To Stay Alive. Not to mention my all time favourite, Tell It To The Birds.

It's really difficult picking the best out of all, or rather, flatly impossible. There are so many brilliant thrillers of his, that only after you've submitted your reply, have long logged out of Nairaland, have long shutdown your system, do the titles of yet many more start coming to you.

By the way, who's got any ebooks of his?

There should be. Like most other popular authors whose books are being digitized.

Sadly Nicetohave, I do not know anywhere you could get them (for free  Undecided). I've been searching myself, but no luck so far. Once I find, I'D inform you.

Patience, patience..........if everybody gets the prize for answering half the question then the organisers will close down but in any case since you are the closest to it id give it to you.

so two down (Bagoma is getting a complimentary copy and youre getting one for your half effort) three more to go:

you'll sure get your copies, take my word for it.

Watch out for subsequent quiz.

Talking about Holmes, he was one helluva detective, really. Probably the best we've seen in books. He and Watson made an excellent pair.

Looking forward to more quizes, Nicetohave.
