Guy,

I will advise you to probably bring your money home or leave it there and come home.

Due diligence is key, you will be surprised at a lot of things, even the laptops people are screaming here, you will be surprised.

Well, I think this question would have been put differently, let say what sell most in NBigeria? because virtually everything sells in a land where poverty and corruption are stuggling for space.
what sells most depend on the season. During dry season, pure water and ice cream sells most. During election period, ballot boxes and thugs and even guns and policemen sell like point and kill hot pepper soup in beer palours. During a reccession, stocks sells most, but in the opposite direction. before I forget location is very important in this issue, because in the house of assembly ;Ghana must go" bag does not even land on the ground before it is taken up or do I use the word scrambled for. Corruption sells like pure water in this location. I think this key board is having problem with EFCC. Haha! that brings me to the master of them all 419 business, this is a business that have been over bought by people living in USA and is being practiced in India, China, Isreal, etc, it is hottest cake in Nigeria with a lot of Hummer Jeap and expensive cars as the highest cash payout. my time is up.
but if you are do a legitimate business, you will stand the test of time, the competition on the other side is getting to the peak and the casualty will be high.

I can's say what sells in Nigeria. But I can say what sells fast on Nairaland. Items that sell fast on nairaland are:

Laptops

Phones

Game Consoles (PS3, XBOX, PSP) etc,

Large capacity memory cards

and some other gadgets.

What Sells?

Lets see. Put this way. What is the trend now? Dont forget,  trend is everything.  Of course everything sells here. But you can only last in business if you are in line with the trend. So buy whatever you can, come home and sell them. Even children's play toys, It will sell. But if you are considering to establish a business here, then you can now find out what the trend here is now.

But because I am here, let me spy you on this, Nigeria is entering a computer age. It will remain hot for a few more years to come

Don't waste your money. Take your  money to naija and buy land. Leave it there and let it appreciate.

when it comes to business naija is full of bad people. They will frustrate you,  trust me

MY recommendation is quite simle. is there any thing your folks lamented of quite often that has a solution in the states. like wristwatches, laptop accesories, quality cardigans etc. this ensures that you have stuffs which your network of family and friends will be interested in but be warned it puts you at risk of buy now pay later.
Otherwise, just import a particular item and find a delaer in a market known for the specific item. eg. Electronics - Alaba, Laptops/Phones/PC - Otigba
