My thoughts as I checked out the site:
- I like domain name 'thestreethawker.com'.
- The name 'The Street Hawker' is also excellent.
- The black background theme fits the name.
- I don't like Intro pages in flash: they waste my precious time.
- The intro page has dead links, such as the link to "Hotels".
- So "The Street Hawker" is a magazine?  It isn't obvious enough.
- More dead links?  I've had enough!  Bye bye!

Lesson: Remove the intro page and correct the dead links, and we'll review your website again.

well, not bad BUT...you need to change the number of fonts you use (for instance on the "home" page) - 2 should be maximum for a professional look. also too much colors i don't like see lots of colors.

your flash intro doesn't sit nicely in the middle of my screen probably due to resolution issues. i'm sure there are ways round it. as per the dead links...well i guess u know about them already.

well...keep it up and fix the bugs

adesodgi, I was just trying to make him understand how the average web reader behaves.  If you click a link on a site and you get a 404 "Page Not Found" error won't you just close the window?  What if there are 5, 6, 7 dead links?  And how do you evaluate a wesite when every click ends in "Page Not Found?"

Also, knowing that the site is for a magazine makes me want to push for higher standards.  I'm sure that guru2 is up to the task!

Seun, thank for your comment but am suprise that you said, the links are not working or showing "error 404" i am on the site presently and all the links are working, actually i just wanted you guys 2 comment on what you felt about the site, the site is for a client, that exactly how she said she wants it.
Actually i don't really like  intro flash as being the index on a site, but she said that what she wants, and she is very pleased with it, but i am skeptical about it!

Hmmm... I use the Firefox browser and when I click the "Hotel" link, it leads me to the page "http://www.thestreethawker.com/Html%5CHotel.htm" which gives the 404 error "The requested URL /Html\Hotel.htm was not found on this server."

But on Internet Explorer, it works just fine.  I really believe it's important to support Firefox and Opera, but let me try another review using IE.

Well using IE, I don't know what to say.  If the client is 'very pleased' what you have, then it's ok, since she's the one who is paying for the site.  If you have any specific questions you want us to answer, that will be lovely.

Thanks for submitting your site for review on Nairaland!

For a start nice concept.....

However Ill recommend you go and learn a little about Flash Preloaders.....

Thats a hard lesson i learnt after adding some heavy flash works to a clients' site and it took sooo long to load that
I was embarrassed myself when showcasing it.

NOte that people browse from different places and most (in Nigeria) from CyberCafes so design flash sites having them in mind.

You can also tweak your background soundtracks without compromising quality. Great work.

Dont like the buttons though. I prefer to create mine using Fireworks.

Ciao.

I think the graphics is cool but shows little information about the magazine itself and loading is kind of slow.

I also think the graphics is too much for a magazine company.

It works well on my browsers (firefox, crazy browser, internet explorer). Keep it up.

I'm interested in swaping links with other sites and mine, its another way of advertising. If you're down email: ibe@myinfoaccess.com
