How Does One Go About Publishing A Book?

Does anyone have any advice for me; I have two friends whom I believe to be exceptionally gifted writers, and I would love to put them in touch with publishers. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to contact a publisher, and such protocol? Thank you Wink
