Nairalanders - Let us start a petition to our government leaders. Let them know that we are tired of excuses. We have expectations of them beyond them enriching themselves. Tell them what you wish for our beloved Nigeria.
My wishes are according to Chapter II Section 16 of our Nigerian constitution:
1. Constant electricity - This is the basis of all other developments. There are new technologies out there including solar. Why wont you invest some of our lucrative oil revenue in exploring and properly installing one of these options? Must the old Kainji dam technology be overloaded or grind to a stop before you do something? Would you rather take solace that your individual needs are met by hideous generators that pollute the air and possibly release carcinogenes for your children and their children's children to come? Do you not care about those who suffer darkeness night after night?
2. Improved Road-ways - Do you not see the chaotic state of our streets?
3. Improved communication systems - With electricity and reliable communication systems we can begin to use technology to improve other areas.
4. Law Enforcement overhaul (Chapter II Section 15.5) - outfit our police, the frontliners of every working legal system, with proper training, salary, vehicles, communications systems and state-of-the arts computer systems. This is in order to abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power as mandated by our constitution.
With these all other improvements should begin to take shape.
