Any One With Alternative For Power Supply?

   Hello Everyone,
       I want to go into online biz,but i have find it difficult,because of the epiliptic power supply of the country.I don't want to go for a Generator because of the smoke,noise.etc.
      Can anyone here tell me or give me another alternative aside from generator?

Go to computer village and search for an inverter.  You can get an automatic inverter for as low as 25,000 naira and a manual one for as little as 14,000 naira.  You can supplement this with a tiny generator.  Cheers!

An inverter can power a single computer for 4 hours if you buy a 100ah battery and charge it fully. 
It can power a Centrino laptop all day if you have 5-7 hours of electricity every evening on the same battery.

Maybe it can power a whole house, but that is not very important since your primary concern is e-business.

The cheapest way to generate electricity independently is to burn fuel. 
Why do you think you need to do without generators?  Tell me, so I can advice you.

It is one thing that you need power to run your laptop and printer and it is another thing that you need power to run your Deep freezer, iron and washing machine.  See Solar is by far more expensive than Generator and if care is not taken "it does not do exactly what it says on the tin". I have tried solar in Nigeria and these were the problems i faced.

(1) You need a qualifed electrician to wire up the whole stuff accurately.

(2) The cost of the following far exceeded the cost of a generator that will supply the equivalent energy.
               a) solar panel    b) inverter c) energy storage battery. d) monitoring and cut flow device.

(3) Everyone claims we have abundant sunlight is that really through; the solar panel is not interested in
      intesity but is interested in the U.V component of sun. So this means how long do we have exposure to
      sunlight in Nigeria,  it is typically 10.5hrs on a good day. In many other non equitorial regions it can reach up to
     15hrs in some seasons.
     That means we must have very good battery storage capacity. Which brings me to the last point ??

(4) Most of the energy is drainned out over night and before the solar recharges the batteries we are talking
     about 10a.m the next morning this compounds the problem of depending on only solar for your energy
     requirement.

Conclusion: Is that Solar is an alternative when you remove investment costs, all though in the long term the fuel and maintenance costs of a generator will exceed the cost of a solar system but it will have to be over a period of 2yrs.

If you buy a laptop, you will only need a 1000kva generator that costs about 15,000 naira and a 14,000 naira inverter of the same rating.  You will also need a battery which I think is under 15,000 naira.  Period!
