Hi to everyone in Nairaland!!
I am a sexual health nurse currently working in a private clinic, and also in training to qualify as a family planning nurse practitioner. I signed up with Nairaland over a week ago and noticed the ammount of questions reguarding the sexual side of health, and how many there are. So I've decided to give free advice to anybody who has concerns, questions or even myths that need busting about sexual health (with disclaimer).
Hoping to hear from some of you!!

Does this only happen after sex? and does he use protection? & when you mean "Pepperish", do you mean burning or a stinging sensation?.
If so you might have a latex allergy, as most condoms are made from latex, which is the sap from the rubber tree, (Hevea Brasiliensis). Latex, or natural rubber latex , is found in lots of everyday things, especially balloons, gloves, and condoms.
This kind of allergy can cause burning, stinging, itch and swelling, as the vagina wall is lined with mucosal membranes. You might want to look around to see if you can find non-latex condoms.
Did this help?, if not feel free to come back and ask! (^_^)

Hell Nurse,
Could you please advise if there is any permanent remedy to premature ejaculation, in this case the victim has suspected this since teens i.e being emotionally active for seconds without any female but just a thought,
Moreso, is there any negative effect to all this penis stimulating drugs being sold along the highway?

Ok in that case,
I think the burning sensation could have been caused by friction during intercourse, it could have been that inside the vagina wasn't lubricated enough, at that time. The constant rubbing from the skin of the penis, against the vagina's delicate interior, causes tiny tears within the vaginal walls creating a burning sensation, or a little soreness after intercourse.
But as it doesn't happen anymore, and because you are married to him, your body eventually adapted with time. Does this explain a little better?

Reply to ollykay:
Premature Ejaculation (PE) tends to be commoner in most men (Especially younger men), which is not surprising, as there's a distinct tendency for it to improve with age. Men generally get better control as they grow older. Some men climax even before they enter their partner. If this is the case, then the victim in question may have the most severe type of premature ejaculation. In cases like these there are allot of ways to treat Premature ejaculation, I'm not sure about permanent treatment, as most of the treatments given are adapted, for example with training and techniques, and some with medication. Before a treatment option is offered, your problem must be diagnosed correctly by a professional Urologist. In general, practice and relaxation should help deal with the problem. Some men try to distract themselves by thinking non-sexual thoughts to avoid becoming excited too fast. It is still important to seek consultation from a professional urologist, because they can then recomend methods or treatments that would best fit the description of his problem, as his case is a little more severe.
Personally I don't advise the purchasing of any Penis stimulating drugs along the highway (especially if it hasn't been prescribed), as sometimes, some of these drugs would not directly solve the problem.
Even when some of these medications consist purely of herbs or some chemicals, which they do not consider "harmful", there can still be interactions with other drugs. It is a mistake to think that some of these medications are healthier or will not cause any side effects, especially when some of the contents of those drugs, are not known. So it's always advisable to seek medical help in cases like these, as these professionals can prescribe/recomend better treatment or drugs, which best suits the problem!!

Replay to MyPeace: Your welcome!!
in case if it ever happened again, which I doubt, you might want to try using water soluble lubricating gels, as water soluble lubricants do not interfere with the natural PH balance in that area.

Hey Libra!, I'm guessing your a guy concerned about his lady right? (Well from what I've been reading lol) For me to better understand the problem, does this "whitish" discharge come before, during, or after intercourse, and does she have any discomfort, or any itching down there?

Reply to Libra38:
In that case, This discharge is actually a natural form of lubrication produced in the vagina. The cervix produces a moist solution, the secretion flows down the walls of the vagina, lubricating it on the way, also special glands called the "Bartholins glands", produces extra lubrication. It's purpose is to reduce painful friction during intercourse. When the female is sexually aroused, this discharge during intercourse, can be released in minute quantities at a time, and it's clear and has a slippery consistency. But when highly aroused, a more denser discharge is released and the colour appears more white, and a tiny bit more thicker, the consistency is also slippery. Might not look sightly against pubic hairs but it is meant to make intercourse for both you and her more comfortable!!.

As a teenager I never had or suffered painful periods,i could jump as high as i wanted, stretch and move about without knowing i was having a period. Then my mid twenties heralded a new begining in my menstral cycle, there was a time my periods went for 9 good months.I wasnt even having sex at that time. But believe you me, the pains I experienced for those months were out of this World and out of body experiences. The GP gave me some strong pain killers and advised me to take two when the pain gets unbearable. My people i was poping those pills like M and M's. It felt like my insides were being pulled out with a hanger like that scene in the other side of midnight by Sidney sheldon. During this period I went for all manner of tests. There was one I went for that a rod like device was inserted into my privates with a gel and i could see my insides and from what the nurse told me I had a polycystic ovary. There were little rosary beads sort of growths around my ovary(s) Cant make rememebr if it was one or two. Anyway after this excruciating months, on a summer's day while poping food into the mirco wave my period decided to make an appearance.
I jumped and was pleased, the pain only subsided, and i still take pain killers. Sex has been in the cooler for quite a while now, but when it happens and an overly enthuisatic thrust hits the wrong place, every sense of pleasure dissipates. The pain is left to linger on. I take personal health seriously, was thinking of going for a pap smear. How help ful will that be and of what use to the situation.

Good day Nurse, my close friend went for urinary track test last 2 months, the test showed she has a heavy growth of staphylococcus arues. She was giving pefloxican (2 cards) to take based on the lab result. She told me yesterday that she has been having sex with her husband since she finish the drugs but yet to be pregnant. Could it be that the infection has affected her fallopian tube. Do she have to take more drugs.

Hi Nurse,
Kindly educate me on the health and sexual implications of masrurbation. This is an alternative for indiscrinate sex. One engages in masturbation for at least once in a day. Please has it any sexual future effect.
Thanks.

Reply to WAVixen: Hiya! I do apologise for not replying sooner, I broke my arm so I wasn't able to work or type for a while. I'm glad that you were able to recognise that you had polycystic ovaries, which does effect your periods alot and also what causes periods to be more intense when they come back, and you would also find that it's more painful, but the great thing is that you eventually saw your period, so it does rule you out of having reached the syndrome stage, but I do advise that you keep going for check ups, and while you do; you can ask for intermittent blood tests, to keep track of hormonal changes. A great life-style of keeping a healthy diet can help regulate your periods, and if your having pains, you can also try using a hot water bottle (kind of an old fashioned remedy), but it could help, and it also reduces your intake of painkillers. A pap smear in this day and age is quite important, as it helps to detect any signs of, or if you may have cervical cancer, the great thing about it is, if it's detected early, there are ways the doctors can treat it better, but don't let that scare you . It is also a great way to discuss any concerns you have with your body. when it comes to intercourse, you might eexperiencesome discomfort or pain, and because you mentioned about the pain lingering, it might be from the cervix. In this case, the penis can reach the cervix at maximum penetration (normally when the thrusts get harder) during intercourse, so problems with the cervix (such as infections) can cause pain during deep penetration. Sometimes there could be problems with the uterus. These problems may include fibroids that can cause deep intercourse pain. Another could be problems with the ovaries; such problems might include cysts on the ovaries. I do advise you go for another check up, to see whats going on. I know it's a late reply, but hope it helps.

Reply to 9hmo:Hey there! Yes I know it's a late, but I will still respond. Most women will find that semen runs back down the vagina after intercourse, especially if they get up right away, due to gravity and muscle contractions within the vagina. The vagina is open-ended, so some of this fluid comes back out with a cloudy (thin), liquidy discharge, which may sometimes last for a few hours, and yup! it is perfectly normal. Although I am typing this to you; you need to take on board that many sperm cells find the cervix and gets into the uterus to start their "egg hunt" within minutes, so this lets you know that some of the semen and the seminal fluid remains in the vagina. This also lets you know that if your not married, unprotected sex is always a risk, and you should make sure that you are ready for all the responsibilities that come along with being a parent (Sorry I had to break it down to you that way! ). You can't prevent semen coming back down, but you can prevent it altogether by wearing protection, also as a responsible adult, I find that it is sensible to discuss these kind of matters to the person you are involved with, it is always good to talk about things like these, because she might not know why things like this issue might happen, and she could feel embarrassed; so it's nice to be open and talk about it so that she knows that you are aware and that it's not something to be embarrassed about. I hope this helped.
