Is Nigeria Really The Gaint Of Africa?

Maybe yes or no but there is no way to say an honest yes or no without justifying your reason here considering human, economic etc. development.

Nigeria is not the giant of Africa, and I doubt it has ever being. I think this word was just adopted by the founding fathers to create a sense of hope and objectivity to Nigerians who seek it.

To become a giant, you need to the powerful: militarily, economically, and politically. Nigeria's Military is not as powerful as many may think, they hardly have military theorists that have documented the ideal strategy of war, operational arts, military tactics, or otherwise. Meanwhile, Nigeria does not manufacture any military equipment/vehicles of it's own. Therefore, we have no might.

Economically: Nigeria fails to establish institutions that would generate revenue to expand its purpose across the globe, neither does it advocate any economic model that could challenge the failing free market capitalist system. The true masters in the Nigerian Economy are the banks, and they do not support industrialization, they only seek to frustrate the emerging entrepreneurs with "crude interest rates", which itself bankrupts an economy.

Political: Nigeria have succeeded in its political agenda in making it democratic, however, bureaucracy is the right definition for the political system in Nigeria, for one party emerges again as the true masters, oppositions are eloquent in their speeches, but most oppositions do not have a proper methodology in seeking to challenge the masters "PDP", what they often do after losing fate in the deluded democracy is either to join the ruling party known to be active participants in the "rigging" of elections, or withdraw from any political party to remain independent.

It is no sweet-saying, Nigeria can never be a Giant if it lacks leaders that truly aspire to use its resources for the development of the people and it's institution. What we have in Nigeria are "sick, money worshipping, deficient rulers" who have no true purpose on what achievement really means, they are all thinking the west determines who shapes the world, when who they look to, have no true resource of its own, but created money in order to keep the wage slave in line.

whatever giant means, by whose definition?

As far as Iam concern Nigeria is NOT even giant of WEST AFRICA.

We should stop deceiving ourselves or allow those politicians to make us feel good while stealing and raping us on a daylight robbery.

Ask yourselves thses questions, How can Nigeria be a giant of Africa, If

1. It has no electrcity
2. No good roads
3. No good hospital, schools
4. No railway
5. No national Airline
6. No National shipping line

Of course if the giant of Africa is measured in these terms below then we are the giant of the world

1. mentally deranged politicians
2. comedy legislature
3. Lieing leadership- emergency on power within 100 days, 700 days later nothing. a sick president who refuse to leave and seek medical help
4. massive fraudulent politicians
5. Electoral frauds

Even without the above there are other measures of greatness, self denial is certainly not one of them as we Nigerians are used to doing. You have to admit your weaknesses and work on it. That is NOT Nigeria.

I know we are trying to destress but this is the comic response we are acustomed to and lead by 'our leaders' and expected.

'Our leaders'  are busy peppersouping, suyaing and bigstouting and they don't give a toss about the plight of Nigeria and Nigerians, and just use slogans.

Think about Madam Nafdac rebranding, repackaging for Diversion 2011 'SELECTION' , almost like what we have in 2007 when YAR A'CLUELESS was SELECTED.

NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE, GOOD PEOPLE OF GREAT COUNTRY.

YAR A'LIAR and cronies are simply continuation of what we have for nearly 50 years of independence.

We have a giant population.

Giant ego.

Giant problems.

But Nigeria is like a big friendly giant, we still love it. Well, sort of, if its government does tend to be a murderous comedy club

To be frank without Nigeria there is no Africa in the context of black people having a positive African/ black identity separate from one ascribed by whites. Nigeria is the only country in Africa that has managed to successfully carry its culture forward. Browse You-tube under the search Nigeria, and if you free your mind from the influence of  the West, you’ll get an idea how rich Nigeria is in African culture and tradition. This alone makes Nigeria the Giant of Africa  without even having to mention, the other things like economy, size of population, which is crucial, investments in terms of economic, human and military assistance Nigeria has made, is making and will contiue to make to the rest of Africa

Nigeria,
You are the giant of Africa
The most populous nation in Africa
And the tenth in global population

You re not just big
Nor just heavily populated
Your largeness as a nation
Is also blessed with invaluable resources
Your south is naturally full of oil
Your north is also blessed with numbers of godly-given materials

Go to east and west,
There are a vast number of resources abundantly given by nature
The assets that many envy
Your vegetation is evergreen
Your rain forest is full of tall and rich trees
Your rain season is as accurate as the months of the year
And your dry season is as friendly as Nigerians

You re indeed a blessed nation
You re as well culturally rich
A nation of over 120 million people
And over 250 ethnic groups
With more than 400 different dialects
It is surely an elephantine task
To come together as a nation
With mutual understanding and pleased minds

That is Nigeria!
A nation blessed with humans
That are always ready to prevent inhumanity
A voice to reckon with globally
No wonder world leaders always keep locking at your door
Visit today, visit tomorrow!

Nigeria,
A bright future awaits you
A future full of hope and assurance
A future that will see youths as the leader of tomorrow
When there will be enough food
Enough work, security and educational attainments.
A fruitful future indeed!

Sorry o, but this question sucks!!
Of course we ain't the giant of Africa. Don't believe the hype. Why else would we need re-branding? In fact we need un-branding first sef to lay a good foundation.
