good question, but I doubt there's only one fashion icon. More like who would be considered the top ten or twenty.

Its probably one of those Iya Oges of Lagos. Didnt Opral Benson use to hold that title? but Nigeria ought to have the equivalent of a lady Di (without the haters) or a Paris Hilton. I doubt our culture allows for such though.

People are afraid to talk bc their choice might be the one person others think is crap . Anyway, last time I checked, Nike Oshinowo was holding it down. I think the real fashion icons can't be found in Nollywood, but in the hot society parties, esp in Lagos.

I would imagine that a style icon would be someone who is willing to take risks. Ifeoma Williams is just okay. She dresses well but there is nothing that stands out. Opral Benson seems to have he own style but I don't see anything iconic from the pictures I just saw either. Rita Dominic tries. She definitely takes risks though sometimes it feels like she might be spending too much time trying to look like something out of style magazine. She is the only one that I can actually takes risks. I know many Nigerians in my day to day life that are "fashion icon material" but if your face no dey magazine , lol

She's still holding it down. She just doesn't do the social scene anymore. . . . .since she got married anyway.

hahahahaha!!! nigerian fashion icon? IDK. i really dont know. a lot of them dress average. but i would give it to miss nigeria 2005/omawunmi she always looks the best on red carpets. i was thinking something. speaking of fashion: i just thought of this amazing idea. something i cooked up in my head while i was bored. lol nigeria and africa in general, have so many new designers now that are really great. i was thinking why doesnt nigeria or lagos (VI, Lagos Island, or Lekki) have something, for example, called 7th street. i mean it should be something like 5th avenue in New York. a whole street dedicated to all the nigerian or african designers. apart from the botiques the designers already have, they should have something called 7th street. it could possibly be a major tourist attraction, where foreigners can come and admire all the works of nigerian designers and maybe pick up a few peices. have everything in one area instead of driving all around the city. i hope you guys understand my idea. what do you think?
