Even if Newcastle is trash - Which i disagree, Martins should STAND OUT!
With Parker, Emre, Dyer, Given, Duff but to mention a few, I think He has some good team mates and are better off than most teams (individually sha, not collectively)
An example was Hasselbaink in his prime, and Kevin Phillips and Andy Johnson. Even if Newcastle are relegation bound, Martins should be able to net 18 goals a season.
10 million pounds in not mai mai and i believe he can do it!

bolton was trash when jay jay got there and he single handedly brought them out of relegation. they've been in the first 10 since then. even if u are in a shit club, do your best and u'll stand out.
see what kanu is doin at pompey. or u want to compare pompey and newcastle??
so he must be in chelsea or manutd or arsenal before he plays well?? then he's in dreamland. he better gets his acts together and play some good football

Now we all are talking realistically, as a person i feel Obagoal is not really trying to pep up his game which by international standard is nothing to write home about, i noticed this since his dry patch at Inter, well i hope he comes good but lets call a spade a spade, he is not really as brilliant as we tend to make him look

Sensationalism at it's worst.
Talk about looking for some attention.
Obafemi Martins the worst striker in the Premiership?
Hardly. Look at the Liverpool strikers and their chances to goals ratio.
Those, my friends, are substandard players.
Look at Shevchenko.
Look at Samaras.
Look at James Beattie
Andrew Johnson.
Look at the Watford frontline.
Whoever started this thread desperately needs to invest in a television.
And a primary school education for that matter.

Sensationalism at it's worst.
its not sensationalism at its worst, if u can call it sensationalism then all posts are in a manner like sensationalism, then wats the essence of a thread, Talk about looking for some attention. Obafemi Martins the worst striker in the Premiership?
yes, attention, thats the name of the game, but u fail in the nomenclature because its not sensationalism, at least it does have a value, and what makes it have a value, the fact that i'm a nigerian thats what, besides this thread was created like two months ago, and that justifies the title of the thread Hardly. Look at the Liverpool strikers and their chances to goals ratio.
everyone knows that but not now, because they've started scoring, Those, my friends, are substandard players.
not any more, 10 goals in 3 games and 3 clean sheets, that is not substandard Look at Shevchenko.
Look at Samaras.
Look at James Beattie
Andrew Johnson.
Look at the Watford frontline.
you forget that, all these guys all scored early in the season, with the hope that they would score more goals, but now, they seem dormant if not dormant Whoever started this thread desperately needs to invest in a television.
i don't need to invest in a television, And a primary school education for that matter.
i take that as an insult to my personality and i demand an apology for that, that is very defaming, and u know it, would i be wrong to start a thread that grabs people's attention and wats the purpose of a forum by the way, why is it there, exu, u got it wrong this time, u really got it wrong,

I apologise for the insult lord.
It was totally uncalled for.
However, you mention that Liverpool have scored 11 goals in 3 games. That's the team, not the strikers.
Also my point wasn't how many they scored but what percentage of chances they had manage to convert. Liverpool is far better team than Newcastle.
How many goals has Dirk Kuyt managed to score, in those three games?
Better yet, how many games has he managed all season?
Was his transfer fee not comparable to Martins'?
p.s. All the guys that I listed, bar Andy Johnson, have had overwhelmingly poor seasons. Andy Johnson at least started well before his season fizzled out prematurely. The same cannot be said for the rest.

Whoever said this must be a big fool. Maybe you have not been watching his games. Roeder even benched Keiron Dyer for Rossi. Why did he not bench Obagaol. One more thing, Martins is going to be highest goal scorer in the English premier league this season, take it of leave it .
|
|
|
|

Christino (m)

i beg to disagree sir
Roeder wouldn't bench dyer for rossi for any reason. firstly the former is a midfielder while the latter is a striker. dyer is an attacking midfielder and one of the fastest ballers in the premiership (I rate their speeds as martins, owen and dyer). A team lacking in pace needs people who can cut into defences and wingers like duff and roeder feels comfortable playing a lone striker with pacy wingers waiting to swoop in and long range shots emre.
You don't expect a proven undervalued 10mill pound man to be benched for a rookie, furthermore, Rossi's loan spell is about to end so using him should be to encourage him and to ensure you just don't pay him wages for nothing.
A wise coach wouldn't play Keiron dyer for 90 minutes or start him in a match when he is not fully fit, for years now, dyer has been hit by injuries, like owen.
Please edit that post, abeg, na beg i dey beg, e no good.
Meanwhile, if you say Martins will end up as top scorer, i won't argue, but know that droughts and injuries are sure to come. THe premiership is a very physical league, injuries everyday. Newcastle has 14 injuries already and 11 of them are in the IDEAL starting line up. How about that?

Guy, Dyer is not a striker okay? He aint competing with Martins. Martins' only competition is Owen because of his height, I don't think most coaches like to have two short men upfront, Owen is not so tall and is not very good with his head, martins is good with his head and Ameobi is really tall, but if his hips don't heal till Owen comes back then that's good for both of them.
Dyer is an attacking midfielder, guys, and not a striker, please stop blaspheming. It's like comparing Scholes with Rooney, it doesnt even make half sense.

I don't think Obagoal is a bad striker, it takes a while to adapt to English football. Plus the club always has one injury issue or the other, so there is not constant pairing.
On the good side the guy has 6 goals already and , he has constantly been on FANTASY FOOTBALLS best players of the week .
Cheers !

The Nigerian tribune today NEWCASTLE United teammates have no idea if Obafemi Martins is left- or right-footed.
The Nigerian international took his goals tally for the season to eight from 16 games with a match-winning double against Watford last Saturday, but the confusion surrounding the Super Eagles striker’s favourite foot continues.
“I know the players here cannot decide which is his favourite foot and it has been the talk of the training ground,” said Toon boss Glenn Roeder.
“I think we all thought he was left-footed but then, when he took the penalty against Reading, he hit it with his right foot. I was as surprised as anyone and I don’t think anyone knows for certain which is his best foot, which is remarkable.
“All that mattered to me was him sticking the ball in the back of the net, clearly he is just as comfortable striking the ball with his right foot as he is with his left.
“He’s difficult to close down as he can shift the ball to the other foot and get the shot away. People thought when he came here that he is slightly more left-footed than right but he took the penalty against Reading with his right and stuck it away with power and accuracy.
“Clearly he’s comfortable on either foot, which is very impressive. There are some very well-known strikers who you know that if you put them on their wrong foot, it’s very much a swinger. There are some well-known strikers, some of whom are considered to be world-class, who are very one-sided. But Obafemi, he can score off both feet and that’s a wonderful skill to have.”

We all know he is a left-footed player, so let them wallow in their illusions, the fact he scores a penalty with the weaker foot does not confer 'genius' status on him @Obaman, i don't still see why i should eat up my words as per Obagol!!
