Most Uninteresting Book You Have Read.
« on: June 29, 2009, 09:35 AM »

One thing is to write while another is to write well. Sometimes, though, literary appreciation becomes a case of one man’s meat being another’s poison, or one man’s Indomie being another’s worm. But, seriously, are there writers whose specialty is churning out uninteresting books? I think so, though I can’t really name one of them just now. If you can, help. Which is the most uninteresting book you have read?

That one is easy. "The Mayor of Casterbridge". Darn book positively sucks, plus i have a habit of not being able to drop a book once i pick it up. I can't imagine why it's still on high school curricula.

The first book that comes to my mind it this M&B book.  I don't remember the title but i remember the author - Betty Neels.  All i remember was that was the most boring thing i had read back in jr high.

Now, if i can't get past the first chapter, its out.

Unfortunately, I don't read books, other than 50-100 page books I can easily read in two hours and drop.

I have to go with Tom Clancy. Whoever put it in his head to make a career as a writer certainly did humanity a disservice.

Pet Sematary, by Stephen King.

A very prolific writer, once he gets going, but waffles for ages before getting into his stride!

Pet Sematary was mind-numbingly boring, I'd rather count sheep anyday.

Contrary to what dudes are saying about Tom Clancy's novels, i really love his work. It is a case of "one man's meat, ". My all time boring novel should go to Kenneth Kaunda's "Zambia shall be free". I don't even want to think about it.

I think Betty Neels was the first M & B book I ever read. The book ended with "and the teakettle bubbled away/merrily on the stove" or something. While the main characters did their thing upstairs. No details of course.

I was quite young then.
