I always wonder how actors and actresses make themselves cry almost instantly during a sad scene. Are the tears real, or do they secretly
put something in their eyes to make it red and watery?

Some people can turn on the waterworks easily. Especially women 
Sally Field is a pro at doing it. Acting is more that just memorizing the script and playing it out. Actors prepare for a scene. . .it involves mental, emotional and physical preparation. The ability to become the character and lose one's own self (disassociate) makes the character believable.
So yes they do really cry.

No!! Actors don't cry. They just eat plenty of onions before the scene, sometimes they just put pepper in their eye. You should try is somtime. You'll be amazed how emotional you can get with plenty of pepper in your eye.

Not all of them put fake stuff in their eyes to cry. Some are professionals and they know how to put themselves into the character and cry as if its really happening to them. So can just make their eyes watery and some need to put in special effects. So crying in movies can never be real cause movies are not real they are just acting. Thats my opinion.

i worked once with Mercy Johnson in a movie and, damn! that girl can turn on the water works as easy as ABC.
i asked her how she does that and she just laughed and said its a gift.
she later taught me how to do that. its all about unlocking your emotions

some pple have the "gift" of being emotional as actors. i've watched some nigerian movies though that i couldn't be convinced that they were crying. it is either they spoil their mouths to look as though they were crying or something close to that. it's actually pathetic to watch that at times it comes naturally for some of them though. saw Jim iyke cry once in a movie and i was like this guy has got to be an emotional idiot. good acting if u'll asking

i don't believe they really cry cos if they do they will really cry their heads off at the end of the day, lets say if Genny will feature in twenty movies in a year she will probably need a sick bed in a hospital for surgery of the head and eyes. abeg them dey rub onion for their eyes biko.

Its real cos' i can even do it I can put my self in an emotional scene and start gushing out tears. For some people its like akara and bread (very easy) but for some like Segun Arinze, Pete Edochie, Patience Ozorkwe and people of his type Its like climbing mount zion |
