@ poster,
some cry some dont. some tha t can cry cry the others are artificial. there are these eyedrops they put in which mak eyou cry. its probably pepperish or sumthing. like the kind they used for americas next top model when nenna was there. proably sometimes even if you can cry the director or producer might think the tears are not enough and decide artifical ones.
also when you act with passion you put yourself in the role of the character that so you can already feel emotional while acting like its happening 4 reel.
some actors may request something which make them cry just before the scene.

some do cry.
i worked once with Mercy Johnson in a movie and, damn! that girl can turn on the water works as easy as ABC.
i asked her how she does that and she just laughed and said its a gift.
she later taught me how to do that. its all about unlocking your emotions

when acting there is need to put emotion in it. you pretend its your real life you are living and if it needs crying you just find yourself crying

Why this question? They are actors for crying out loud! So they can act out any emotional feeling including crying.

No matter how you look at it crying for a movie is not real. Just look it is acting and real are two opposite words. It like a paradox saying that crying in films is very REAL is very good acting. If its real then why do they need to act it? Its like saying "The actor that acts superman can really fly, its really good acting" whatever you act can never be real. Its like faking it. When you really cry you won't be in the mood  for anything, Much less acting. Its your real emotions. If you bring up the wrong emotions you might mess up your words. Thats why they practice and practice until they are able to control and its just water down their eyes. So crying in films is not real its just acting.

Abi? They pay them hundreds of thousands of Naira and you expect them not to put up real tears? In fact, people shed crocodile tears for free how much more shedding it for money.
