Computer Security is an extremely vast area, so it depends on what you want. You can specialize in software security, operating system security, hardware security, network security, e.t.c. You didn't specify what you already know. As for OS security, you should know C++, ATL or MFC, though C++ will be most preferable as it is included in Visual Studio. It provides an easy communication to core system operations. Precisely because most of the microsoft system files were written in C++. The only way to communicate with these dlls in another language is through api calls which is not so advisable.

Truly, Computer security is quite vast. Certifications for this vary with the area of interest, local area network security, packet data networks security, forensics, Pen testing, systems security, Software security, et c.
You probably would need to start up with something simple though, like say CCNA, CWNA, with your goal to get CISSP eventually.
So have a go and start something.
