@hayprof,

for the settings u posted,

username: none (no username)
password: (no password)
port: 8080

meanwhile, that's not the settings i browse with; this is it

connectioin name : Access
APN : internet
username : none
password : (no passords- just leave the defaults)
home page : http://www.ng.celtel.com
no IP addresses and no port numbers.

working big time for me  Smiley

but anyways, FYI,
celtel's removing a lot of subscribers from wap access so it migth not work for a lot of people.
they just upgraded their bandwidth and they probably want to do some other changes so wap usage is only available to  some lucky people.

From my own point of view, I think the browsing has to do with two stages,

(1) Activation for the particular sim and
(2) Getting the GPRS enabled phone configured with the activated sim

From these two stages, one can simply deduce that even if GPRS is available in your area and your phone has it's functionality, You will need to activate your sim for it to work with the above configurations.
Another means of getting the configurations is to visit the particular phone's website. or visit the nearest Celtel's customer care office near you

thanks!!

@emmyz if u were browsing before no sweat do the config thingy and u good to go. If not then let luck play it for u; send the wapgprs to 184, if it tells u to contact 111, u screwed otherwise it will send u the settings and get u activated as well
