Is God All-powerful?
« on: July 27, 2009, 10:08 AM »

Here is something that God cannot do - God cannot drive out an army that has iron chariots:

Judges 1:

17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

19 And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

20 And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.

21 And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

Blessed be god and his bible!

Simple the people wrote that their god was with them, they drove out the inhabitants of the mountain but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. The verse is very clear. Now bring forth you own spin.

does the inability of the isrealites to drive them out. . . .a weakness on the part of God?
so why do u believe the contents of this verse and not the other verses of the bible?

Stop saying things I never said. I do not believe in the content of the verse, the people that wrote that bible passage at least were honest enough to say that their god had limitations, they said that he was with them yet they could not drive out people with iron chariots after promising them that he has delivered all the lands into their hands.

I do not believe in any of the mythical wars that never happened that were recorded in the bible. Myths like stars fighting against humans in a war.

Yes the inability of the israelite to drive them out is a weakness on the part of their supposedly all "powerful and all knowing" god. They stated the reason why the couldn't drive the people out despite their god spear heading them in the battle, they allegedly drove out all the others but they couldn't drive out some because they had iron chariots something that was too much for their warrior god to handle.

I do not believe in OP because the events recorded in the bible really happened but it just shows that there are some writers of the bible do do not believe that the hebrew warrior god is all powerful and can do all things. At least they wrote that he could not defeat men that were riding on  chariots of iron.

Just as we all KNOW that the moslem god is also powerless.

Conceptual, manmade gods are always limited in their scope by the ideological boxes in which they are trapped caged contained. So it is no surprise that the biblical god exhibits such limitations,as well as the koranical god of islam.
