How Powerful Is C++?

  Hello,I studied C++ for the first time when I was a freshman.I want to continue studying it independently now.Do you you think it's advisable in the present day software industry?If not,then what should one delve into.It's more like a Hobby to me and I hope to turn professional after  graduation.
