"runs"- Which Way Out?
« on: November 13, 2006, 01:15 PM »

There is a very disturbing development in the Nigerian Eduactional Sector. This is the problem of examination malpractices popularly known as "RUNS". The sad thing is that most people that indulge in it - parents, teachers, students, corrupt exam bodies officials - seem not to see anything wrong in it other than a means to an end. No one seems to care about the very grim conseqences this practice will have on the nation as a whole.
Currently, the confidence of most students in our secondary schools has been so adversely affected. Many do not have the confidence of passing the exams on their own without assistance. Thus, you will find many students in SS3 moving enmass out of the public schools where they have being from JS1 to register for these exams in schools where they expect to be assisted.
SOMETHING URGENT NEED TO BE DONE BEFORE THE FUTURE COLLAPSE ON US. HOW MAY WE TACKLE THIS PROBLEM?
Please help to contribute your view.
Thanks.
