A colleague of mine is quite senior in a bank in the UK and looking to relocate to Nigeria. He has extensive experience in IT delivery and architecture (over 12 years), lots of certifications and an MSc in Information techonology (London). In the last few years, he's been significantly exposed to Finance (Corporate finance, operational and Financial risk) and now has an MBA from a top UK uni in Finance and strategy.
He's seeking a senior role in Nigeria and asked me earlier today if he should pitch for a senior IT management role (like head of IT, director of IT etc) or a finance role (Head of Risk, director of risk etc, ).
He's acquired substantial certifications also and has asked which of these have the best prospects/opportunities in Nigeria as things stand today. He enjoys both roles equally. How would you advise?
