it might not be an hate thing, y'know, raising alarm about dangote heading NSE. What will the way we always twist every little opportunity we get here to make killer-profits? or the funny political alliances and juntas fellas often kowtow to despite our thinking they're men of solid self-reached conclusions made on the basis of the best evidences?the possibilities are endless but it boils down to the man himself, i kinda like the guy sha but then who knows, with all this his brouhaha with Otedola.

Please, you people should think straight. When Jerry Putnam became president of the NYSE in 2006, besides being a shareholder in a couple of companies, he was also a shareholder in the New York Stock Exchange itself via the acquisition of his electronic company, Archipelago Holdings some years prior to that.

In terms of integrity, the same Putnam was investigated for his involvement in a controversial trade with Wolfang Flottl which saw the collapse of Refco.

The question y'all should be asking yourselves is:

WHY DO YOU HATE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE SO MUCH??!

We are talking Nigeria here, not USA, Naija is a jungle without any law, a wild wild west, anything goes, Dangote's sole aim at the moment is not to slip out of the next edition of forbe's list of world billionaires, he will swap being on that list than being the occupier of Aso rock.

I dont think Dangote would be as bad a leader/president as u people are portraying him.
NSE is too huge for him too destroy. He only might not do well in making the market grow substantially. So we have less reasons to worry.
Just my own point

 Grin Grin Grin Grin
And your point sucks!!!
NSE too big to destroy? Are sure about that?
When they have already destroyed a bigger fish- NIGERIA?
so what is NSE?

I said Gerald Putnam was the President of the NYSE when he was a share holder in different companies and also a shareholder of the NYSE by virtue of the stake he had in Archipelago Holdings.

He'd been previously investigated for his involvement in a suspicious trade which led to the collapse of REFCO.  I didn't see you people complain when he was appointed in 2006 as the President of the NYSE.

Damn!!! You might be making sense, but death is a debt for all humans on earth, we have paid the pipers from heaven and we got to face the music.

You should have included some scrubs on your list, because these are predominantly achievers either in good or bad ways they made history. But you got to know, if someone turns back at you, he's definitely going to face somebody, that's just life. These people left giant steps on the sand of time, if you and I would agree?

You can criticize anybody I don't care, but I am tired of Igbo people's antics on this forum. Is it compulsory for you to always criticize other tribes and make your tribe holy?

1) I know one retarded Igbo tribalist on this forum, he was crying foul of marginalization in police, he said no Igboman had ever been an IG and denied Mike Okiro as Igboman.
Then, 18 hours after Ogbonnaya Okechukwu Onovo confirmed as police IG, the same idiot that I am talking about came straight on NL and started showering encomiums on both Okiro and Onovo.
He started this way, I must first congratulate the out-going IG, Mike Okiro (Igboman) for all he has done (despite he claims South South) and I want to let the world know that it's only Igbomen that can do it.  Igboman left and Igboman came in.

2) One of you criticized Oba Otudeko, and taught he didn't want to relinquish the post for Dangote. Then, Oba Otudeko told Dangote that as soon as his 5-year-tenure is complete, he would definitely leave. Now, he gave it to Dangote you Igbos are out again to lachrymose. Common, y' all need to be quiet. Okereke was there for donkey years, what did she accomplish and who from other tribes criticize, her? She would walk around with Bigger-ass chains, necklaces, bangles in office and chew gums like she would lose her teeth in a minute, who came out to lampoon her? You and I know she was just a titular figurehead;  a trifling nonentity. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
3) Just like three days, I got into it with “THE AMAKA” also known as ikeyman00 and Onlytruth. The first thing he would say was “I wish all Nigerians could turn to Muslims, there would not be a crime or tribalism.”LMAO
I told him to be quiet and shut the f**k up. I asked him do you really mean what you have just said. If that was right, don’t on “YOUTUBE” anymore and tell the whole world; because Igbo people are predominantly Christians, the whole tribes in Nigeria who are predominantly Muslims from North and West want to exterminate you. As soon as I said that, muthafucta just be quiet like I asked him to do earlier.

NB: I miss you boo (Ezeachi), I ain’t heard from your ass in a minute, the last time me and you got into it was on the thread about Biafran passport, currency and flag. Do you remember now buddy? I appreciate that you drop a comment on my ass now. Holla at your boy!!

I dont know u but i want to ask u whether u dont ever get tired of tribal wars on the internet. U must not turn evry thread to Yoruba vs Igbo fight. U must not answer to evrybody dt makes a comment against Yoruba. U are not the only yoruba on this forum.

When someone makes a foolish tribal statement, u dont have to bring urslf to the person's level by responding in that person's way. U'll do urslf a whole lot of good by ignoring certain things and putting behind your tribal hate.

ASUU: Governors back FG
From LUCKY NWANKWERE, Abuja
Wednesday, August 12, 2009
More Stories on This Section

The 36 state governors have thrown their weight behind the Federal Government’s position on the demands of the striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The governors who met in Abuja yesterday under the aegis of National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Vice President Goodluck Jonathan said the Federal Government could not sign any blanket agreement on salary increase with the striking lecturers that would be binding on them.
The Federal Government has always canvassed this position, arguing that the principle of federalism would not permit it to decide for the states how much to pay their lecturers.

Governor Aliyu Babangida of Niger State alongside governors Ikedi Ohaki and Bukola Saraki of Imo and Kwara respectively who briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting said it was improper for ASUU to ask the Federal Government to sign an agreement with it on the 40 per cent increase in salaries for ASUU and 20 per cent for non-academic staff which would also be binding on the state governments.

“In a federal system, one arm cannot go and sign on behalf of others. To quote one of my heroes, you cannot shave a man’s hair in his absence. Every state should be able to determine what it can pay even though there could be a benchmark from the federal system. That is the angle we looked at and said all the governors should support the stand of the Federal Government because if it is signed what argument can we have for other unions that where built during the unity system of government,” Babangida pointed out.
Saying it was important for people to differentiate between constitutional and military governments, he explained that in a bid to subject the country’s constitution to test, all efforts must be made to fight for federalism to be established properly in this country.

The governors said after a presentation by the Minister of Education on the stand-off with ASUU in which they noted all the Federal Government’s positive responses to ASUU’s demands, they could not but agree that the lecturers had no reason to continue their strike.
They urged ASUU members to understand the position of government and at least suspend the strike, especially as government had despite the long period of the strike refused to invoke the no-work-no-pay rule.

Governor Ohakim said the governors agreed to go back to their states and be ready to negotiate separately with lecturers of their state universities, pointing out that the Federal Government had equally agreed to most of the demands of ASUU and had even earmarked N33 billion for upgrade of six federal universities in the first instance.

The governors equally threw their weight behind President Umaru Yar’Adua’s Petroleum Industry Bill, but however agreed to look into the issue of giving back to the host communities some certain percentage of revenue derived from petroleum exploration as raised by the South-South governors.
They also expressed support for the president’s decision to fully deregulate the petroleum sector and remove subsidies on petroleum prices which they said had gulped N150 billion between January and May this year and could gulp up to N1 trillion before the year ends.

“This year alone between January and May, the government spent about N150 billion on subsidies. The budget subsidy of over N1 trillion is more than the entire capital budget of the government and this is clearly unsustainable, and we are losing $1 billion a month of revenues from production because of crisis in the Niger Delta.

“We are spending a N1trillion in subsidies. There was a general sense that a solution has to be found and we have to find a way of resolving this and Nigerians have to understand that the subsidy is clearly unsustainable and the bulk of the subsidies are not to the benefit of the ordinary Nigerian,” the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who was also present at the briefing said, adding  that the timing and modalities for implementing the deregulation would be worked out soon.
On the excess crude account, Governor Bukola Saraki said in line with the agreement reached on the management of the account in 2007, the council agreed on the sharing of  $2 billion out of the $4.5 billion in the excess crude account.
