BUT, Tongue
Rap IS Hip hop MUSIC.

Hip hop culture as a whole goes beyond rap tho (i know i'm preachin to the choir here) . . . but the other elements of hip hop CULTURE are nowhere as colossal as rap is. So I think it's safe to say that rap IS hip hop , to a certain extent (globally). I mean i'm sure there are small pockets of breakdancers and graffiti artists everywhere, but rap-junkies full ground.
That's what I'm saying . . . Jigga changed hiphop without changing rap.
Forget graffiti, Jay-z influenced fashion, movies and many other things, he even the perception people had bout hiphop.
He shattered the stereotype . . . hiphop artistes used to be either clowns or convicts.

Right now, rappers won't look out of place in the White House, compare that to the early 90s

Young voters are not dumb. . . . . . .Everyone wanted a change from the whole Middle-East interference the Republicans seem to involve in.
Eminem's "Mosh" in 2003 changed the mind of young voters in America but the release was too late to have made an impact back then.

Eminem is fcuking white bruv . . . half the hiphop community still refuse to see him as a rapper
Besides, you can't throw Eminem at me, Eminem was telling us not to vote Grin Grin Grin

Biggie Smallz did a track with MJ in 1995. . . . . ."This Time Around".
As I said before, they did hiphop when it was sumn new

Pac and Biggie did rap when it was still strange to the whites

I agree to some extent that Jay-Z has done a lot to improve the image of rappers.

But,

who brought rap to white people on a mass scale. . .don't ever get it twisted. NWA  They went platinum b4 Jay Z, or biggie, or tupac, could spell "Gold". It was sub urban white kids that took NWA to the top. Didn't do much to help the image of the negro though.   Grin Grin

that na why when dre endorsed Eminem, that was all the validation he needed. The "God" had spoken

Rihanna's voice will tear apart most rappers . . . you can't compete for attention against such a strong voice
She destroyed T.I on My Life . . .
Jay-Z just had to take the back seat, especially as what he was talking about was not half as metaphorical as she was.

Kanye only got heard on that track because the beat went low for his opening, he got lost at the end
He collaborated with NO-ID to steal Jay-Z's shine Cheesy Cheesy

Dre didn't need to sell Eminem to the whites regardless of their social class . . . just like no one had to sell Will Smith to black pips
Dre's validation only made the blacks accept him, it helped him erase the ethnic boundary.

Jay z definitely helped Obama get younger and minority voters. We all know he overstated his influence on em' young voters however that should not distract from the fact he helped.

You don't sell 'mess the Police' to rich kids.

Eminem sold because he was tight as a virgin's stitched up punani. Dre's endorsement just made it instantaneous. All dre's fans jumped on it. Timbaland tried it with Bubba sparx and flopped big time. This racial division thing is overblown. . .ity really doesn't apply when it comes to youth. Black people will buy white rap if it's tight. Black people LOVED vanilla ice (maybe not all his shit, but ICE ICE BABY. I lie?) He became a joke when his album dropped and it was wack. It wasn't becuse he ws white he flopped, but because he was wack. . even white people dropped him.

The NWA machine is very powerful. People for the most part underestimate how big NWA was.

Eazy E's group, bone thugs and harmony, is still the highest selling rap group in history.

U need to go to some underground hip hop joints  and see how white people lose their heads when NWA comes on. I can say with full confidence, that White kids, rich, poor, whateva, made NWA. they sold to white kids like hot cakes. of course parents and govt had problems with it. But anyone that understand pop culture knows that the more provocative sumn is, the more sellable it is. Thats just how it works.

It's so sad that whenever Eminem drops, other black rappers are happy.
Cos when these white guys go to HMV or Virgin Megastores to buy Eminem's records, they end up picking up few albums of other artistes!!!
