You people are very naive and clearly open enemies of Islam. So you think Igbo people are still in the dark about Islam? They have to be in the Northern part of Nigeria to be Muslims for their safety? I have news for you, listen and listen good: Islam is not an Hausa, Fulani, Gambari, etc, etc, tribe RELIGION, alone. It is not a Nigerian Nation or African Countinent alone religion. It is not even an Arab Religion etc, etc.
So you have not heard of Eminent Igbo people who live in Igboland, Successful in igboland and have no need to do business with the"Northern People", yet are Pure Muslims, with there entire families. Chief Alhaji Isa Okeke is One. He is an Uncle/Big Brother of the Governor of One of the Igbo states. Imo State to be precise, where Oguta local government is Located. He is respected all over Nigeria. He does not have to go to the North to have his meal. Thank you. He does good agricultural Business in the east and he does not engage in Nepotism, either. This is the condition of islam. In the USA, I know men and women Igbo who became Muslim in and Out of Nigeria. What type of conscience! In Imo State? Never heard of any Gov with Okeke in his name b4 in ma beloved state.

Sorry to burst your bubbles 'Ibo people' & the rest of the stereotypes on this thread i just had to come in. Heres the deal, we are only born into our tribes and religions not of any real choice of ours as it where but of Gods will. Then theres also this tiny little detail called free will which God has made available to all.
, irrespective of tribe.
Why cant there be Ibo muslims?
Who says any religion is the exclusive right or restriction to any race or tribe?
The fact that certain people refuse to believe, isnt enough grounds to say it doesnt exist.
If a man is convinced in his heart about being a muslim and he finds his peace with God, who are you to judge him?

Ok your grand uncles had Hausa names and their properties got burnt in the north by some people who probably arent educated in the true sense of the Religion, or have you heard them say anywhere in the Islamic view that people should burn down houses? Now dont we have Hausas who are christians too? , how does this even come in to play with the thread by the way?

There is Sheik Anadu from Awka, Anambra. He joined Islam out of personal conviction and not as a ''security measure'' (not a problem if you ask me, join them if you can't beat 'em) like some of the ''Igbo Muslims'' based in northern Nigeria. Heck, he's based in Awka where Hausas and Muslims roam free, so there is no "security'' or ''financial" measure involved in his embrace of Islam. Had a little conversation with him back in 2000.
There are Igbo Muslims (real Muslims, not some fake *Alhaji Imam Agwoturumbe* from Okija) but their population is so inconsequential that it beats every mathematical calculation.

TANZO, It serves no Igbo, Ibibio, Efik, Ogoni, Ijaw, person any good adopting a violent religion like Islam or even assimilating with ppl who practice it. That's my point. No matter what u are not one of em. The Yoruba muslim aren't real muslim in the eye of a Northerner hence they don't lead prayers in the North and get chopped into shreds when there religious violence. Yoruba muslims to me are complete morons. LOL!!!!!!!
Igbo and Eastern muslims are moronic imbeciles that deserve no respect. Sorry
Awka town get many Hausa muslims who even speak Igbo well well.

im yoruba so i have to when i see you write anything yoruba aiight but yea the yorubas in general as a tribe dont let religion or european languages divide them. They will continue to be muslims and polygamist while some the christians among them do the same. They are not complaining of marginiliaztion like some in the east. The more they populate the more state districts the government will allocate them and the more states they will probably have. i now understand igbos concern in Nigeria honeslty, continue with your biafra but keep out yoruba bashing out thanks.

So what is the big deal if there are Igbo Muslims? Some people act like certain religions are holier than others, when it comes down to it, these are other people's religions and it all makes about as much sense to me as praying to 'God' in a language you do not understand,
