Attempt To Smuggle Explosives On Nigerian Plane
« on: November 20, 2006, 01:45 PM »

This is getting real frightening.  What exactly was the intention of this man?  Does this mean the last few plane crashes could have been a result of such criminalities that went undiscovered?  Does this have a political undertone? (Remember the M.A.D. hijackers after June 12?).

I thought this story was embarassing enough until the Aviation minister said he has invited E.F.C.C. to come in and investigate.  Can someone please correct this ignorant man that EFCC wasn't set-up to do this sort of job!!!!!!!!!!! Embarrassed

Could it be that the container actually held powdered shrimp rather than explosives ?  That guy's monkey ass looks far to dumb to be able to fabricate a bomb to me.

Saw the news on CNN was sure not convinced i kind of smell a rat here why now all of a sudden, seems to me the new aviation minister is trying to paint himself the almighty saviour and the right person for the job, need to follow the subsequent events unfolding to be convinced beyond any reasonale doubt that this is nothing but  a conspiracy,

   Bleeeeeh!!
Do I sense some smart ass job here?
Now they'D have us believe the other planes were blown up too.Gimme a break!
Nigerians should please not fall for this huge joke.Anyone who's flown on Nigerian airlines immediately knows we have a lot of work to do. Instead of owning up to gross ineptitude and sanitize the aviation sector, they put some moronic clown up to an act.
  It's Act1Scene1;stay tuned for Act1Scene2. Grin

Before you point fingers and call others unintelligent or ignorant, you should be sure you know what you're talking about.

Last time I checked, attempting to smuggle explosives onto a plane is classed as terrorism.

I believe that this forum is for enlightened nigerians. Davidylan's post is a clear case of ignorance.
The man is a terrorist, there's no doubt about that, and if this fact is established, then efcc has the right to investigate.
fani kayode is a trained lawyer, he is intelligent too. Davidylan should ve asked a question about the constitutionality of the minister's pronouncement before talking about who is intelligent and who is not.

What on earth is an Economic and Financial Crimes  Commission doing investigating a terrorism attempt (if proved to be true) ? - Please note the words in bold

EFCC can probe the source of the man's money, if he has any, but it is not for it to investigate the act of terrorism or attempted terrorism. There should be specialised agencies or units for such an investigation.
EFCC does not have the skilled personnel or specialised equipment for such investigations

Let's not make it look as if all Nigerians have lost their education or ability to think intellectually.

Even with the EFCC site displaying that they are indeed mandated to investigate acts of terrorism, you continue to argue?

Have you been through training with the EFCC that you now know what type of equipment or expertise they have?

Men, you are right. I believe is another act of bombing our air crafts again. Meanwhile with the facts that the last air crash we witnessed started in the middle points out to us that it coud be a bomb issue. What happends to their findinds / Report? Have they ditected the cause yet? The Bellview issue, Sosoliso and the host of men loster, WHat is the real cause of the crashes? Is it that we have old machines? Lets stop decieving ourselves and face the fact, All this could be bomb. Only God knows what would have happend to those on board that faithful day the Vampire (what is his name)? Is pretty sad that some persons or group of persons are really deriving pleasure in a national Disaster. ,  ,  Even if you- you- you is not going to board that flight because of what you have done to it, Your relation, family or Anccesstors will,  God go Purnish you- you- you 77,000 times.

Haven't you heard guys?

The "bomb" turned out to be a bunch of fire crackers - nothing more than fireworks delivered to an events company in Abuja.

Illegal cargo, nontheless.

But here you go, the new aviation minister is just another idiot on a chest-beating mission to impress the masses.

It was nothing but  FALSE ALARM.

@mariory,
I read it too in Nigerian Tribune online that a Presidential aspirant stated he owns the fire-works which were to be used for his official declaraton in Abuja. If this is true, then those blaming Davidylan above need a rethink. It would clearly be a disgrace to the new minister screaming as if he caught Osama bin Laden in Lagos and to the security at our airports if we can't diferentiate 'knock-outs' from explosives.

  HAVILA,
don't u know that knock-outs are explosives? the investigations will tell us the type of explosive found. but the issue is really if efcc has the right to investigate it.

Fine, it turned out 2 be a bunch of "fire crackers".

Question 1. If they were as harmless as being claimed, why did the alleged terrorist refuse 2 open the bags initially when he was being questioned?

Question 2. Why was did he "plant" the bags aboard a plane he ddnt plan to be on? We hear he was going to get to the same destination by road,

Question 3. Why did Fani Kayode give out unconfirmed info? Does he know what effects that could have on Nigeria and her economy?

Final Question. Why was Fani kayode made Aviation Minister?? All the way from Culture & Tourism! The man is a friggin lawyer for chrissakes! What does he know about aviation?!
