Are u planing to apply for working permit from Nigeria b4 traveling to that country? Seriously u can't go to any European Country without working permit and expect to live there and work.

I know many wicked pple will tell u to call or email them for papers or how to do it, just write your WILL b4 doing that.

If u are going to any European country with visitors or tourist visa and planing to stay and work then u are kidding urself. U will be used by some evil Nigerians and get deported if not end up in jail.

Bitter truth i know

Honestly i'm not saying that he can't survive in Europ, what i'm saying this that, going to any European country without appropriate visa is a bad decision.
Now, if he wants to go for a study then let him get student visa then after his studies he can seek employment, if he is going  for a buiness, then get business visa. that will save him alot of trouble, eg, runing from authorities, going to jail and been deported at the end.

Europ has changed interms of cheap or unskill jobs since the new EU members joined, they do alot of those unskill jobs some non-EUs do b4.

If u came here with visitors visa and want to work, its imposible or if u want to work with fake papers, then your days are numbered from the very first day u start that job, u can't get your own bank a/c, your wages will go the a/c of whover gave u papers to work and God help u if he/her decideds to use your wages. u cna't call police on him .

The truth is bitter, I came here as a student and face my studies until  I graduated then apply for work permit. I don’t have to sleep with one eye open thinking abt immigration knocking at my door.

Do u wonder why many pple who came here with dodgy papers can’t come home? U think they don’t want to? The shame of going home empty handed kept them here, push them into all sorts of frauds,  Some people came here with wrong advice by some wicked Nigerians living here or home, when they get here the reality set-in.

It may sound harsh but it’s the bitter truth

My own advice I have been living in Europe almost 17 years now and I will be honest with you the way things works,I lived in Italy for almost 7 years.
Have been to almost all the European countries looking for a better life before I decided to settle down in England 10 years ago.

From experience:
Don't go to Italy you will end up doing (eve compra) that is the name they call most of Nigerians that goes from house to house selling toilet rolls or you will end up living with prostitute at home and end marrying them also and this is the same in Spain also.

Holland:fucking hell you will end selling drug that is you knocking the door or prison

my simple advice is don't go to a country without no paper BC we Nigerians are indeed very wicked BC they will make your life so miserable I'm not saying you can't survive but you still have a long way to go and also your first 6 months in Europe will be for you just finding your feet

I think your advice is wrong and your impression of Nigerians living in some countries in Europe is wrong too. JUSTWISE gave a good advice to the guy. he didnt mention countries or what people do in that country. As Justwise said it is better to go any country with good documents and good intention.  As a correction, European girls that Nigerians married in Italy or Spain are not prostitute. And I dont think Italy and Spain you mention are not a good countries. when you have proper documents you can do good things or when you study you can as well do good things.
You have been in Europe for 17 years and the way you analyze about life in some European country is wrong. You comment sound inexperience. I read in a forum where a guy was writing what people do in Uk which I think to my opinion is wrong too. the guy is a British citizen and believes every Nigerians in Uk do that kind of job. that is overgeneralizing.
I am not trying to crucify you but I am trying to make a correction because I know many people are reading this thread and may have bad impression of what you said. and can always believe that anyone who married European girl married prostitute.

@kood,
 u are right, there are alot of Nigerians doing great across EU without doing any dirty business. Its not fair to generalise, if u travel with valid documents chances are that u will do well, there are 2sides to every story.

@ bobolistic

Europe and the rest of the world for the most part is not in good economic shape. You should stay in Naija and invest your money into real estate, or some other booming sector of the economy.

@ justwise

I think I remember reading somewhere that a lot of Eastern European counties are now having non-skilled labor shortages since their citizens have been flocking to the West. Is this true? I can't remember where I read it.

Re: Travelling To Europe
« #16 on: September 02, 2009, 05:22 AM »

I found an article that says Eastern Europe is short of skilled workers, but it was from 2008. I imagine after the recession, there will be many skilled jobs available.

Quote
In the booming economies of the new EU Member States there is a shortage of skilled workers in all industrial sectors from the building industry to the health sector. This shortage is becoming more acute and is slowing down economic development in Eastern Europe.

http://www.wieninternational.at/en/node/6538

If you're skilled though, I think you should think about staying in Naija, there is a severe skilled labor shortage there too.

The story is true at the time it was written, now things have changed. Eastern European are now going home, mostly from the UK cos their economy has improved after joining EU, while UK economy is struggling, 2004 when they joined EU, alot of them rushed to the UK creating more job for those that stayed back, at a point, countries like Poland, Romanain, Latvia and other new EU countries started begging those skilled workers to come back cos of  brian drain, they are doing that now, their currences are now stronger, more job, while in the uk, the jobs are not there even the non-skill ones.
BY the way, this is my new ID since moderator stopped me from replying or posting with my first ID(Justwise) maybe they will block this one too

@Toyinajani

The only way you will get a work permit is to 1st get an employment in the country you wish to work. You can now take the employment letter with your credentials to the embassy. But it is not automatic. The embassy will have to investigate why you are given the employment and not d citizen of their country. What am driving at is that you need to have a specialised skill that is in high demand (e.g medical field -Nursing etc).

What do you mean by "GOOD ASSISTANCE"? Please becareful you dont fall into the hand of those who will promise to help you but will involve you in shady/dangerous deal. lyk drug pushing and prostitution.

When my Pastor went to Germany, he said Germany is good and nice compare to other countries hes been to. I think the best thing is to get a Student visa, work permit or business visa b4 travelling out. I av opportunity of securing a visitor's visa with my pastor but it will make no sense to me to go and start living with fear there.

Look b4 u leap
