Nigeria (2) Vs Tunisia (2) on Sunday 6th September
« on: August 21, 2009, 04:46 PM »

Nigeria will record her second milestone against Tunisia(the first being Algeria,@d last w/cup qualifiers) in Abuja. It will be a case of boys vs men.We will outclass them in  all facets of the game.We will show them who the African champs are.We will dribble, head and score many goals. We will thrash and trounce them.We will deal with them terribly. We will remind them of what we did to Algeria, even though we were one man down.We will show them that football is not for boys.We will discipline these small boys.It will be a case of winning with a seven goal magin

This is a make or mar tie.If the super eagles fails to win, they will be in danger of being excluded from the world cup.

Obasi ,hoffenheim's strongman is expected to play in that decisive encounter having been excluded from the previous qualifiers.
Yakubu, who is recoverng from his achilles and obafemi that was largely uninspirational and missed a lot of opportunities during our first game against mozambique were two players dropped by Coach Amodu for this decisive game.

Officiating in this match is the South african referee(dont give a flying mess about his name) that was accused of waiving off a clear penalty on kanu during the decisive match against angola ,prior to the w/cup in germany 4 years ago.

The supereagles needs to rekindle the dying hope f their numerous fans wholabelled them ''super chicken'' at the last nations cup.

For once I agree with Amodu's squad list

I hope he makes the right team combination

He should forget celebrities and go for those ready to work hard for the team.
This is why I still miss Siasia or Eguaveon as coach.

My Favourite team will be

Enyeama/Ayenugba (depending on who is fit)

Adefemi/Nwaneri                                      Adeleye                                       Yobo                                        Taiwo

                                              Kaita                                                                     Ajilore

Ike Uche                                                                                                                                               Nsofor

                                                    Obasi                               Osaze (Kanu 85:00)

I Have chosen Sani Kaita and Ajilore because we just need to come to the realization that we do not have a Midfield Maestro like Okocha and will not have one anytime in the neasrest future.
So the best thing is to use two standing Midfielders who are ready to mark and win the ball, they will act like a shield to to the back four while the four players up front are given the freedom to rove about in a counter attack format.

Siasia used this Strategy in Olympics and we almost won Argentina in the finals if not for just one defensive mistake. USA also did the same thing against Spain using Ricardo Clark and Bradley and cancelled out spain at the confederation cup.
Even Man Utd does this with Daren Fletcher and Micheal Carrick at times.

We have no midfield maestro, we should stop trying to clone one at the moment. Okocha or Zidane is a gift from God.
Mikel will never be an Okocha and yet Mikel is not a ball winner.

The Midfield of Sani Kaita and Ajilore will do it for me if they are fit and get the kind of motivation they need from the coach.

And by the way they should stop inviting Danny Shittu to the National team, that one no be footballer

@mckren,
it is obvious that 99% of nigerian football problems lies on mikel. from all indications, any formation that sees mikel out of the 11 players is the best and will surely take us to south africa and bring home the cup.

@topic,
no matter what the outcome of the match in abuja, nff needs to face the realities on ground which is; politics has taken over the football governing body. the governing body is divided against itself and as such no head ways will be made in the face of such situations.
we must have ppl who are committed to the game and not the financial benefits to enforce committments on the side of players.
nigerian football must see leaders who love the game with passion and who know the game. we saw abacha as a sports man in aso rock and we all enjoyed his days on the sports aspects of it. we saw orji uzor kalu of abia state as a sportsman in their govt house hence enyimba broke the deadluck on caf champions league which they won back to back.
when leaders with interests are at the helm of affairs, the result is always positive. what do u expect from an onigbinde lead super eagles? we must always acknowledge the problems of our football and tackle them right in order to to get the anticiapted result but as long as we blame these failures on individual players, we will not make any headway.

Current time for the game is 5pm, but Tunisia asked Nigeria for a time shift to 8pm because their players are Muslims and will not have broken their fast by 5pm. Nigeria refused the request.
Tunisia have written to FIFA about it.  .  .still waiting for a response.

Why did coach Amodu not invite Obafemi Martin  for the crucial encounter? This is a major mistake from him.I just hope we win the match because i will be happy to see Nigeria team at the world cup.

@ mckren: u are just being sentimental, mikel use to be an attackin midfielder but now a defensive midfielder. If only Amodu can play Etuhu not Olofinjana in attackin & Mikel in defensive midfield, any other combination with solid defense makes a perfect team.

OK.  For all Naija-loving football fans in the Wash, DC area, WHERE OH WHERE will the game be shown?  For all who live in the DC metropolitan area aka "DMV", please respond with info. on a location.  This match too big to sit and watch alone in front of PC.  Need big crowd.  Lots of Guiness. And lots of ENERGY to send back to Abuja!!!

Tunisia, Kenya then Mozambique.

If we defeat Tunisia in Abuja, are we sure of beating Kenya in Nairobi?

I am not being sentimental

I hoped and prayed Mikel turns out the great player he should have been. But he has not.
I am not particularly concerned about his ability as an attacking midfielder, its his attitude. He does not have the capacity to be forceful, lead from the midfield, and impose himself on a game. He can neither be an Oliseh or an Okocha. He will not even be humble enough to be a Garba Lawal.
Yes we want Mikel Obi to remain Mikel Obi but football is a team sport and when a player can not work hard for the team it makes their place untennable.

Zidane, Okocha, Ronaldinho, Maradona, Messi can get away with having any kind of attitude because they have the capacity to get into a match and redefine the match. Mikel does not have that capacity.

Right now and for now, I think the future of Nigerian football lies with Ogbuke Obasi. We can look up to him to be our play maker not in the mold of a midfield maestro but like a support attack play maker like Gerrard

He can hold forth while Haruna Lukman or Rabiu Afolabi grows up

abeg help me ask people oh. evrrbody seems to think beating tunisia automatically gives us the ticket. with all the hype sorrounding this match, my indepth feelin is dat it is going to be so easy sef it will be like a walkover. i stand to be proven wrong.  the hard part is beatin kenya away, and nobody thinks that is even imporatant. this is not even a one match at a time thing, everybody thinks beat tunisia and we are at the world cup. if only it were that easy.  Sad

Remember under Eguavoen we scored 10goals in two matches. And of course we all know what Siasia can do. We saw how he brought out
the best in Mikel at the under 20 world cup but this Amodu, i don't know. God help us

Okocha is GONE - for good!

I hope Nigerians wake to the realm of realism that a playmaker of the ilk of J J Okocha is not where football is at the moment! In fact, RIQUELME has been described as the last of such playmakers. We honour them but now is a new era!

On Mikel - it  has to be said that the boy is still latent talent! Outstanding as a DM but no better than Kaita or Ajilore. Chelsea's CHANGED him & we have to live with that - he could make a first team though in almost every club, except Barca with Yaya!

Our best players are Obasi & Osaze. And Ike Uche is our finest striker. What happens to Solomon Okon'kwo? That's one dude with some sick skills!!!
