Is their a site where i could get the websites of all or most of the companies quoted on Nigeria Stock Exchange ?

There is a list of websites of quoted companies at http://www.karakataonline.com/stocks.html.  As at the posting of this entry, 91 websites have been updated, and the list will definitely increase in the next few weeks.  Also, feel free to provide websites you know via the feedback page.  Cheers.

Ok ok ok. since u've asked this question a dozen times on this (and other) threads, I'll attempt to answer. I generally avoid penny stocks but I like ABC transport and Beta Glass. A few people have recommended Mutual Benefit and other insurance stocks. Read the thread on insurance stocks for more info.

To the Gurus,
If I may ask why is Nascon share the highest traded stock in the market recently? whats the secret to it?

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians
« #1289 on: June 18, 2007, 03:27 PM »

@Ess

It depends on what you are referring to -
1) Is it based on the one day offer of 400 Million shares at N22, which was oversubscribed
2) The fact that Dangote is basically the owner.
3) The stock has been scarce, which has driven the value of the stock out of the roof,  as many investors want to be a part of the profit,  since Dangote name is written on it.

Whichever way you look at it - I say Dangote is the reason for it, he is playing in the market very well.
He probably bought NASCON at next to nothing, and ramped up the value of the share - and now sold a 5th of it on Friday, 15th.

SavvyLanre,
I guess thats why, cos I was just looking at the list of shares and notice the large volume, value and trade against the stock. I havent heard of their one day offer o! Anyway thanks for the highlight.

@ All,

You need to read a new proshare article on the precipitous drop of Ashaka Cement. Some people might have inside info on this stock and may be dumping it en masse.

While it is true that you can get insider news, the analysis like most technical analysis that the man does are based on hindsight. Why didn't he say before now that Ashaka will drop? Based on his analysis, what is the conclusion? He is saying that we will have to wait to know whether the price will drop further!!!!!

He claims the stock has "support" at N66 and N68. He does not expect the price to drop below those numbers. You pointed out the problem with TA. It's always correct in hindsight.

On another note, why is the market dropping like a rock?

according the analysis by proshare they reckon investors are selling off their holdings and taking profit in order to buy into the IPO`s since accordîng to them a lot of the stocks in the secondary market are overvalued

Businesses without functioning email addresses
« #1298 on: June 20, 2007, 07:37 AM »

Why is it that most businesses in Nigeria with websites are not making sure their email addresses are working?

Some people may think this is not important, but I see this, as a fault needing urgent attention. Some of these businesses have wonderful websites but what you get back when making enquiries are non- delivery notification.
And it is sad to say that some of our high profit declaring banks are culprit.

On another note, why is the market dropping like a rock?

Many reasons.

Firstly people are booking profit. Astute investors always try to lock in profits.

Secondly some are selling to fund the First Bank IPO. This week is the closing date.

Well, thsi should be temporary because the Pension Fund money should be hitting the market soon thus driving the price further up.

Relatively, most stocks are over priced so there will definitely be a correction. How soon this will be depends on alternative invvestment options that are available.

Penny stocks are penny stocks for a reason: they are hit-and-miss. If you are looking for 100% returns in 3-6 months, try the HYIPs under the "risky business" board. But as our gracious host always reminds us, "you will defintely lose your money". Even speculators (like me  Wink) can't reasonbly expect 100% in <3mos in this market.
