@pumping, there was no mention of any bonus 'rumour' in the story. Does this mean we should disbelieve the possibility of such occurence.

SOS!!!
Please I need fellow shareholders of SKYE bank to help out!!! (or anyone in the know)
I have some shares in SKYE bank and want to take up my rights in the current offer but I have been expecting the rights circular in the mail and havent received it yet! So what do I do? I am in the dark, anyone witht he same experience & how do we go about solving it? Go to the registrars or to the head office or where ? ? ?
Would appreciate your response , Thanks!
You need to visit the registrar of Skye bank and get your copy of rights form quickly. The offer closes officially WED. Your broker can help you to collect this form if you are not available in Lagos or Nigeria. The registrar's address is City Securities (registrars) Limited, Primose Tower (5th floor), 17A Tinubu Street Lagos

guys, this thread is moving too fast - una eyes de red for money oh<kidding> (excuse my pidgeon english).
Anyways, the thread has gone too long, I will resort to information retrieval and data mining to dig up valuables from here. Time is coming on NSE when men shall be doing optical character recognition on dailies and writing perl scripts to automate getting info.
Anyways, I have one million naira and I am looking for 60% returns in two months; i will be concentrating the funds into just one insurance company - I have reduced the list down to two - NIGER and CORNERSTONE. what are the pros and cons of each of these???

If you are referring to my last post on Afribank, there was no "bonus" rumour in that one. However, there was "bonus" rumour in the one I pasted a day or two back. What I am really highlighting is that these folks are very focused on driving the price of the stock north. Believing or not believing is not important. It might provide the right CICO opportunity. There is no need to wait to hear if there is bonus. A good CICO merchant would have collect his/her loot and bailed. One thing I know for sure though, Afribank price will not be anywhere near N26 by the time the result is announced. Don't ask me why though. I just know that more rumours will follow these ones and the price must rise. Abeg, I am not recommending buying the stock sha o. I have some already but I'm not thinking of buying any more to tell you I am not moved by this rumour or am I???My risk appetite is not so high but I believe others that take the risk may smile.

The association of telecommunications employees just announced their happiness over the reversal of the sale of NITEL to Transcorp. They came out of a meeting today and released a press conference urging Transcorp to go to court, so they will be asked by Nigerians what they have been doing since with the company. Bla bla bla……
Is this an early attempt by FG to score some propaganda points against the company or are they any serious?

I hope not sha till you don finish your business. It is good though that it was not with a price drop. On the other hand, there could a juicy rights issue in the offing and insiders will mop up the shares. No red signal. Just my opinion.

A friend sent me this story, enjoy! Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10.
The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.
In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50."
The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!!
Welcome to the "Stock" Market!!!!!

guys, sorry if this is elementary; what is the duration of technical suspension???; for cornerstone that is on TS, can a trader not buy now if for instance TS will expire in 10 days for instance???

@ Obalende Technical suspension is usually of unspecified duration. If for the purposes of going to the market for public offer it is usually lifted sometime after the offer closes. If for any other reason it is lifted when the reason for it no longer exists. Trading in the shares can continue at the price at suspension unless it is a FULL suspension in which case trading in the shares is banned completely until lifted. Samstone4

Chei, my broker sold all my capoil today. First I was like who's doing the buying?? Later I was like . Narrow escape with 19% in less than 2 wks. Lesson #21: never do CICO unless your broker is superman This is the quote of the day for me which corroborates what others have said regarding the almighty borker being the last and weakest link in this CICO business. They can make or break all your assumptions in technical analysis, @ WindyWendy: we wey no get Superman broker, wetin we for do now? ?? You fit connect us with your personal broker for FSDH?

All the insurance that have just listed are very good candidates for IPO but they will nôt just go on TS like that. At least they need to jerk up the price a bit abi? and that's where the CICO/RO-RO opportunity comes in!
I thought insurance companies are required to separate their life and non-life businesses which is why there are different capitalization requirements for each insurance type
For those that want to engage in non-life insurance business the cap is N1B and for the non-life is N2B or the other way round.
I know for a fact that insurance companies are now required to spin off their businesses into life and non-life for those who want to engage in life and non-life insurance and for re-insurance business it is a different kettle of fish altogetheri hope i'm not talking gibberish sha
Not sure that the requirement to separate LIFE and NON LIFE was carried through. At list the list of firms released by NAICOM did not show that. Recently listed companies are almost impossible to get so don't bother!!!!

Hello House,
I instructed my stockbroker to get me some units of LASACO and AIICO sometime in January. On asking yesterday, i was told that theses stocks have not been and are still not available. I somehow do not believe this, but if truly it is, what other stocks do u think are good buys within this week.

@hopeozah, most shares in the insurance sector are kind of difficult to get for now due to the increase its been enjoing so your stockbroker might just be saying the truth. as for what other shares you can buy, well you could try international brewies (it rose from 0.90k to 12.44 as at today just between oct 07 and feb 08) , dangote flour( rose from 15 when it was listed to 25.59 as today) hmmm let me check for some more

If the post TS bull run in AIICO is to be taken as a guide, then I better load Crusader now, and wait till after PO is done and sell after TS is lifted.
Is there anything wrong with this thinking?
