i don't want to personalise this issue. i've read your posts expecially your candlestick analysis. what i am suggesting is that those who recommend should declare their interest. shikena. me, i no get money, maybe fo2 fit help you (afterall, na him you 1st ask ). continue your analysis, i dey use am test my own hypothesis. I don't think anybody is obliged to disclose his/her stock holdings simply because he volunteers to contribute to discussions (that's exactly what it is afterall!) on this forum. Enough is enough! You may choose to ignore a particular contribution if it doesn't meet up to your personal requirement!

You should only speak for yourself just as I have. You don't need to qualify my personal view.
If you have been observant, you will note that a number of folks have already accused contributors of pumping and dumping. If you also note carefully, you will see that some previously frequent posters are slowly gyrating to silent readers.
I have noticed the exact same thing man and it is really unfortunate that we are missing the insightful contributions they offer. i have even spoken to some who are wary of posting now and are just watching from the side lines. well, i can't say i blame them. I have to say i will probably do the same, retire and make my dosh in peace to the best of my own ability without stress i can do without @rhema girl, sorry i have no info on those PPs. i don tire for them for now. the only prospectus i want to read now is starcomm and interswitch when they come out. Sorry. Can someone else help with info on this for Rhema?

@aktopgun, recall, i asked you sometime ago about where to learn candle-stick analysis. basically, i try to analyse the charts combined with some probability analysis to 'predict" estimate what future direction will be. if i see a dragon-fly doji i look back to determine the probability that its price went up or down. i'm still developing this model and will share once complete. i want to exploit the "redundancy" in the share price movement. E.g. in the English alphabet, the probability that 'h' follows a 't' is much higher than 'c'. and the probability that 'e' follows 'th' is greater than 'o' et al.
well done. please share when it is completed. By the way, if u are interested, i could give u a book title that is much better than any website on candlestick charting, with more patterns and clear unambiguous explanations. the stockcharts website is a sort of off-shoot and is not that detailed or explanatory and neither are nay other sites i've researched

how do i know? common sense. fo2 didn't say aktopgun was an arm-chair investor (neither did i, read my post again), he alluded to the fact that having a stake in what you recommend is putting your money where your mouth is. anyone can recommend anything (frankly, i don't want to go over this again). interesting whose side did i take, wendy's, fo2's or aktopgun's? i think i have been objective.
This one pass objective o.Na MCQ

@BHG I am surprised that people still haven't got their refund or is it certificates for First Bank PO. Some had their allotments directly credited to CSCS. I know my certificate has been ready for some time I am waiting for my oga brokers at FSDH to collect whenever they feel like it. I got my money within 30 minutes when I went to the registrars on 27th December. Just as well. It was the main reason I travelled to Nigeria at this time. The SEC is making noises about this issue which is not unique to First Bank. Hope there is visible progress soon. My advice is to goto First Registrars immediately. Samstone4

How do you know FO2 was talking about aktopgun being an arm-chair investor? Let the man speak for himself.
If you have been observant, you will note that a number of folks have already accused contributors of pumping and dumping. If you also note carefully, you will see that some previously frequent posters are slowly gyrating to silent readers.
When there is conflict of this type you should not take sides. My post to aktopgun is just to encourage him becuase I know how he must have felt after reading that post.
I agree completely with Pumping. Pray let's ignore all detractors! I suspect some people would quarrel with themselves if there is nobody to quarrel with. My advise is: ignore people who attack other people's ideas without providing better alternatives!

@samstone4, i agree that one could be accused of "pump and dump". but then you could always ask the recommender how much or when s/he bought the shares.
@aktopgun, what is wrong in putting a caveat with every recommendation? what Fo2 was inferring is that it is always easy to be an arm-chair or fantasy investor. (which i agree with).
When you agree with one person in a conflict it is called "taking sides". Even if you felt this way, there was no reason to say so. That is now how you resolve a conflict. Well, an arm-chair investor is someone that does not invest. It is not someone that does not invest in EVERY stock on the NSE so I don't agree with this your "common sense". Are you saying folks should only talk about a stock AFTER buying? That is unreasonable. What if you can't find the stock to buy? So anyone that talks about Transcorp must have it too? You've lost me there.

I think it matters BIG TIME that you own the shares you recommend or make it clear you don't. I'll explain with an analogy. Assume you are new to canoeing and your neighbour recently bought an old dinghy off ebay. Which of the options are you (or anyone feel free to answer) most likely to take 1. hit bar-beach on your own with his old dinghy. 2. option 1 but with the added knowledge that your neighbour had previously used this dinghy. 3. he offers to go with you and you both hit bar-beach together.
No one should be afraid of analysing stocks on this forum because of the fear of failure. (I suggest you read "The truth about markets" - John Kay). It is by experimentation, trial and error and improving on what works that we better understand markets. What you suggest is that we don't have peer-reviews on different technical/non-technical methods. That would be very bad. By reviewing each other's methods is how we arrive at something that best enhances our knowledge of how the NSE works. I have learnt from Aktopgun (by the way, I don't think he recommends stocks, he just analyses them) the use of candle analysis which I combine with FA.
Finally, I agree that no method is 100% successful, every TA is basically a probability ratio of whether (given events in the past), that a share price is likely to rise or fall. The degree to which the method used is able to accurately define these probabilities determine how successful it is.
@all, fortune favours the brave. Continue to do all the analysis wey you fit do. Me I go read am.
I think the issue of whether or not one owns a stock prior to recommending has been adequately addressed by other posters and will therefore not add anything extra. With regard to the bolded portion above, you've got me completely wrong. I'm not in any way suggesting that we don't have peer reviews of any methods being used to analyze stocks. I'm simply saying: stop the unnecessary attacks. We all know that no one method of stock analysis is flawless so why jump on someone who has taken time to analyze using techniques that have been proven to work at least some of the time, when in fact the person doing the jumping is not proposing another method that we can use? That's destructive criticism and will not foster the sharing spirit that this forum has enjoyed until recently. My point of view on this matter can't get any simpler than that. I think this issue has taken more energy than it deserves already, so abeg let's move on.

Samstone no surprise say people never get their money back o.I bought in 2 installments from 2 different braches in Abuja.I have received my returned money for the first one but for the second one no show.I went to First Registrars in Lagos,I was told my name was not on ANY list.I went back to the branch i bought it from and my name was on their system as duly paid.To cut a long story short, last week I had to write a stinking letter to the MD of FirstBank almost calling him a petty thief.I copied the branch,First registrars and SEC.I got a phone call almost immediately from First Bank that they will solve the issue and get back to me latest this week. I have called them today and it appears - 1.Either the money was not remitted to First Registrars or 2.Someone seeing my name twice with the same amount of money must have thought it was a mistake and deleted one 3.Or on seeing my name twice decided to pocket one for himself I have been informed investigators have been called.Don't take no for an answer.Chase your FBN money well well if you never get am.The longer you wait the worse it will become. As for SEC they are useless.Imagine if it was Ribadu that was in SEC.

@ololufemi - Insurance, Insurance, Insurance I discovered something over the weekend in this sector. I don't know if it is in sync with your own. I'm only worried because I did not see this before and it looks so so simple. between, have you already sorted yourself out in the sector or you are looking for mulitple confirmation? I want to sort myself out this week. I think the risk is well worth it.

@aktopgun,Bros abeg take am easy. You know say when two elephants fight, na ground dey suffer.Na we go suffer am so make una nor quarrel. We are all one family.
Please what is your take on these Kajola Integrated Investment Ltd Private Placement and Resort Savings Private Placement?
This is my take on Kajola: Company's forecast is way too aggressive. They forecast PBT of N432 million in 2008, when in 2007 they made a grand N8.63 million operating profit before tax. They intend to use the money from the pp to start the following subsidiaries : Microfinance, Kajola Capital, Property Mgt, Venture Capital subsidiary e.t.c. The pp closes in March 2008, so they will not likely have access to the money at best till mid-March '08, which is 4 months to their financial year end. Don't see how the pp money will impact their FYE 2008 results significantly. That being said, who knows what will happen when they list on the NSE with the way prices are skyrocketing these days. Don't expect them to list on the NSE soon though, or is there not a rule that a company must have at least 3 years of results before it can be listed? Hope this helps CAVEAT: I am NOT BUYING into this PP

I plan to be out before that time although in this bulls market, poor results or results below expectations mean nothing I want to hit two real hard. Luckily for me, I already have a bit of one of them but not based on this new eye opener so na one I go dey chase now

@ All, It's not been easy trying to catch up with the number of pages I've missed. ABOUT WAPCO (remember I'm in that JET, abi failed-jet?), I factored in the possibility of the "no-bonus" declaration before I even entered, so no big deal. I'm definitely not going to be part of any panic-selling. Any share one is willing to buy for CICO, must be waht you can have for a medium to longterm, just in case things don't work out as planned, then you can fall back on plan B. Savvylare, I can see your prayers and fasting for FO2 and I didn't work, too little faith abi?? Having said that, I expect the stock price to bottom out at about the 63-66 naira range, and then some other die-hard CICOers will sewep in to take possible short-term profit, and we can join the train on it's struggle up. Mind you I bought at 67.something, and for all I know, WAPCO is a 90-95 naira stock before year end (medium to longterm, plan-B).
