Hold off on Mbenefit for now, and even unic,  until you figure the proper direction of most of the insurance coy,

Disclosure i own Mbenefit and Lasaco - and currently making a loss on Mbenefit - you really want it to bottom out before you make a leap.
And, about Transexpr the candles are somewhat not in favour (not totally concusive from my end) - i also hold a few of those that i bought at peak and making a loss as well. BUT, it seems to be seeing a resistance at current price and just Might swing up. The result should be out between April/May,  so we might still some upside,

Very interesting !Read between the lines. It says Banks are withdrawing money to balance their end of year accounts.Meaning that banks are heavily involved in speculations as well.Hmmmm, could this be the time to actually sell off and take position in some other stocks?

Wonder if that is why the banks are bleeding today.

Lemme go and read again.

Fellow members, anyone suffering a down leap in their portfolio due to d price correction being witnessed in the market, should as a matter of urgency look for funds so as to enter some stocks dat re good. This way u kan mk sm gd gains.while your looses can be reduced.
Crying and mourning over d downtrend will nt bring your money back.

Interesting write-up on the Pension Fund and the Stock MArket.

http://allafrica.com/stories/200803250095.html

Thanks for link but I think the article is severely flawed (as a matter of fact, I'm worried about the quality of journalism in naija today. The way stories are written makes me shake my head). His point about pen funds being unable to invest in (potentially lucrative a la Chams) PPs which limits profits is well made. The points he made about Wema and Costain are unfounded. Smart investing is about what returns a coy will provide in the future, it's about finding a stock with a trailing PE of (say) 50 and a forward PE of (say) 10. Such a company is clearly turning things around and turn-arounds are the hallmarks of all major market success (including Mr Buffett and more recently John Paulson). Those who predicted Wema and Costain last year would have smiled to the bank (assuming you got out before TS) even though it seems Wema "cheated".

Anyway, I like the points but not the way it was made.

If the fact that most companies are closing shop for 1st quarter is the reason why there is so much red on the floor of the exchange, then I undoubtedly expect this bear slashing to keep up until the end of the week.

I would advise novice investors buying on speculation to keep off the market atleast until next week, that way alot of buying opportunities can present themselves and it could be the resuscitation of the bulls.

Right now, I dont want to panic sell, but I hate seeing a 10% loss after purchase especially on a fundamentally sound stock.

PLUS.

someone gave me a rumour about prospective buyers in livestock feeds, thats why I went ahead to get it, dont know how true it is, but if someone has some news about it. Ill appreciate it. Thanks

For now.

UBA, FIRSTBANK, OCEANIC, DIAMOND AND FCMB ARE GOOD BUYS.

DISCLOSURE. I ONLY HAVE FIRSTBANK AND OCEANIC BUT LOOKING TO GET THE OTHER 3 AS SOON AS RESULTS ARE NEARING.

CAVEAT EMPTOR.  Smiley

Please can any Guru in the house enlighten me about stock (buying shares)? I am a novice in the game. I would really appreciate anyone that will tell me about the pros and cons in the trade.

I advised someone to buy this Daar Communication Shares, but i don't really know how good it is, or the returns.

Which will a guru advise a novice to buy; the offer for subscription or the offer for sale.

Please your prompt reply(s) will be greatly appreciated, because i do not want  to lead another person in the path i have not thread.

Ikeja hotels for example did a doji on thursday after its recent climb and that sent my alarm bells ringing on my computer but i was so tied up between SMN and here ovr the holidays (apart from other easter festivities  Cheesy) that i forgot to point it out . SORRY GUYS. i kinda got disillusioned when i couldnt post pictures

Not to be flippant but the "pros and cons" is that the market goes up and down! The stock market is the best tool for creating wealth and is open to all people. You can read this thread, all 700 pages of it for really good advice. Also try the "university" section of investopedia.com and learn about fundamental analysis and technical analysis

I advised someone to buy this Daar Communication Shares, but i don't really know how good it is, or the returns. It think the consensus is there have been and will be better deals than Daar. I'd also suggest that all newbies avoid PPs until you get a feel for the market. I've been in the NSE since Dec 04 and just bought my first PP last month. If you must get a PP, Omatek is ongoing, try to find a contact at Afribank Capital (don't ask me, I have none and I'm not doing this PP - no kishi)

Which will a guru advise a novice to buy; the offer for subscription or the offer for sale. See above

Please your prompt reply(s) will be greatly appreciated, because i do not want  to lead another person in the path i have not thread. I don't accept thanks, gimme 10% of your money!  Grin (just kidding)

Cheers!
