Nigeria is good, and Abroad is good.
Each one has its advantages and disadvantages. If you are in Nigeria, bear in mind that inconsistancy is the order of the day.
But today Nigerian students are ready to check mate all the ills in the society by taking bold step like join in forum to learn from others even when strike is on.
I believe that Nigeria will be where America is today and even more than.

Nigerian factors? Inflated budgets and contracts, ghost workers, bribe me b4 u get promoted, no sex no job. Nigeria factors. What Nigeria factors while the country is sinking? Lecturer are not been paid a living wage while educated-illiterates(politicians) are earning millions in a month for doing all the wrongs things. Tell me the Nigerian factor u are talking abt. Go, brother go!!! You can say that one million times and feel good about it as I am feeling good right now reading and responding to it. Where is this man coming from when he commented about foreign educated Nigerians not understanding his 'Nigerian factor'? Sure, he doesn't understand how Nigeria is perceived on the International arena. It doesn't surprise me hence, the backwardness in this country.

And for those who still think that Nigerian education could help them meet the 21st Century employment challenges, may I open your eyes a bit further. Please, check out this CNN report you would see what's coming home to hit you in Nigerian job Market in the next few months and over.
http://edition.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/business/2000/05/27/qmb.africa.inc.nigeria.repats.cnn.html
In a nutshell, there is now and will continue to be in the foreseeable future mass exodus of Nigerian foreign educated expats and technically skilled men/women returning home to take their place in the Labour Market. So, what are you going to do about it? You can't touch this baby, it's too hot Shock? Yes, because we are coming home and Nigeria belong to us too!

I think I have one or two things to say concerning this issue. Schooling abroad has its advantages and disadvantages. Nigerians love to generalize by having the belief that all schools in Europe and America are perfect. That is not the case. There are a lot of rubbish colleges and ' Universities ' abroad. They exist solely for helping african and Asian students abroad. These schools are sometimes set up ontop of fish and chips and Halal shops. Don't be deceived. The UK Government has decided to get rid of these schools through a fresh registration and visa process. Many Nigerian students cannot afford the fees of the elite universities in the UK and US, so they settle for smaller colleges that charge low fees in the range of £1800 pounds to £4000. The proprietors of these colleges do not care about attendance of lectures. Just pay the deposit fee and they'll sort you out. When the time for exams come, everything will be arranged for you. Meanwhile, you will be working and living your life. Is this the kind of education you want? Search your soul, Nairalanders.
How about Nigerian students who pay deposit fees in the good universities and colleges, go for classes, write exams and graduate, but cannot pay the remaining balance of their expensive fees? Therefore they can't collect their certificates. Many of them have to stay back, get married to a citizen of the country they are studying in and work hard to pay off their debts to the schools. It takes years to pay off the debts, mates. This is because you have other daily bills and issues to pay and attend to. Its easier when you're on scholarship. My advice is you should aim to study abroad on scholarships. Except you come from a rich family or your parents are part of the thieving Nigerian political class. Things will be rosy for you then. Many Nigerian students have had their hopes dashed when they arrived in Britain or America for Post Graduate Studies. Start thinking.
I have one belief and I cherish it greatly: '' You are who you are. If you're brilliant in Nigeria, you'll be brilliant abroad. If you're dull and stupid in Nigeria, you will be a jughead abroad'' Changing environments doesnt really change your values. You only get exposed to positive and negative influences. The choice is yours. Cheers.
@ radman you are a true citizen of the world, this thread has obviously diverted from its original purpose but still very informative, but i must say radman u did address quite a few things, studying abroad is very expensive, as much as people say they will live an easy life all human being have needs , you still need to socialise and all these cost accrue besides your basic living and accomodation a bsc degree in the uk will probably cost around £40,000 at the end of the year almost £10 million which man can use to buy land and start building his house small small so studying abroad has to be carefully planned if not it could turn into the worst nightmare

The whole educational system in Nigeria was from abroad in the 1st place so why not go abroad to get the best in education.
But you will be surprised though, there are some brains here in nigeria without any studies abroad.
