Installing A Linksys Wirless Card In A Pentium I Computer: Card Not Detected!
« on: November 30, 2006, 11:37 AM »

I have been tearing my hair out at this issue. I bought a new Linksys PCI wireless card to install on one of my dinosaurs (a Pentium I 233 computer running windows 2000). The card was not detected by windows, even if i follow the installation instructions. This card was manufatured in 2006. Maybe it's too new (silly thought?).

I have tried installing the card in other machines: a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 on a VIA motherboard, running XP Pro, and a 500MHz Pentium III on a intel i440X motherboard, running windows 2000. Both install flawlessly.

At first i was worried that the motherboard does not follow the PCI 2.2 standard, but a DLink DWL G520 (also PCI 2.2) installs in this old goat without hassle. So what's up? Help, anybody?
