ummm,  Biodiesel? You mean the same Biodiesel that costs even more to create? Anywho,  best we stick to the solar panel topic please. Some dude asked how much a panel costs but no one answered. Does anyone have an actual price for panels?

I would think with all these people in here who claim to have used solar panels at one time or another, we would at least be able to get a price on how much a solar panel costs.

for a standard  4.5amps (peak current) at 17volts which should be suitable to charge a 12volts rechargeable battery, it goes for #80,000.
if you ever find your self in Enugu, (coal energy city), you can Visit

Knowledge Brings Confidence

Learn everything you need to know about designing and installing solar electric systems in readily available, structured and organized information.  Learn at your pace and TAKE THE MYSTERY OUT OF SOLAR POWER, take an important step in the right direction by taking advantage of this readily available readable, easy to understand information.
Now, with the information offered in this E-Book, you will be able to move forward and take advantage of this clean, free, and renewable source of electrical power.

The E-Book takes you through the learning process step-by-step, starting with an overview of solar power and continues on with one of the most important things involved when living with an alternative energy system, i.e., energy conservation. You'll learn about the various components of a solar electric system - batteries, inverters, charge controllers, solar panels, etc. and how they connect to and interact with each other to form a complete solar electric system. It will give you the knowledge to go about the installation and/or maintenance of your own solar powered system with a feeling of confidence and self-reliance. It explains solar power in language that the average person will have no trouble understanding and putting to good use.

You will find answers to your various questions and more:
•   How does solar power work?
•   How do the various components of the system hook up and interact with each other?
•   Could I install it myself? How to choose the right components
•   Can I still use all my appliances?
•   How will I know if it’s being installed correctly?

This is a reference manual that you cannot afford to be without, if you are at all interested in solar electric systems.
With the information contained in this E-Book, if you are at all handy with tools, you should be well on your way to installing your own moderate sized solar electric system. Even if you're not the Do-It-Yourself type or simply don't have the time to do the actual installation, the knowledge gained from this E-Book will allow you to figure out the size of system you need.
You'll be able to purchase your components and contract out the job with confidence, knowing what is needed and what is going on at all stages of the installation. Also, included on the CD is a pricelist catalogue of all solar system components so you can easily price and purchase your solar power system.
Once your system is up and running, this E-Book will continue to serve as an easy guide to the on-going maintenance of your system.

hi yes its good to have an alternative source of power
but wait first there are different type of people here some who want to sell some want to buy and some want to know
while some know . the victim here is the buyer no matter what to a mother monkey her kid is "bella"
to tell you first solar energy is not an alternative power in the twenty first century my be 23rd century
the solar panels on the satellite is bigger than the physical area yet its mission beyond the orbit is not solar powered!
japan is most advanced in technology yet the solar powered car engine is a little bigger than "maruwa" but also needs to be plunged into nepa at night
tell any one who is providing power from solar to u to to justify your investment in his business by not connecting any cable to nepa
don't u see hat all thy succeed in telling u is boil water on lamps and watch tv leisure and pleasure for 250k at 120watts
common an inverter will justify your investment in Lagos were u need returns on your money not in guinea were the are struggling for amenities amids hash
weather please solar solutions are for critical services where every other is available i can tell u that an inverter system  worth 250k will serve a system of 120watts continuously for 3.3 days without charge while the solar system can not provide power beyond 12hrs they will tell u that while charging don't use !!!!    please the solar solution has a function note if the tell u its an alternative tell the then don't plug to nepa or generator for investment justification
don't be riped off i will not mind to give a free brief for what u want if u need more on all i have said signify by a post --makunmi

What about biodiesel production?  I'm sure we can find a lot of dung in Nigeria to turn into fuel.  Let's try that.

Seun that would work for the rural areas,  and then you have to ensure that all processes for continous production are in place. With people like OBJ alive, I don't see how that can work.

Forget about biodiesel in Naija.

People never chop finish na him you dey talk of biodiesel. A liter of vegetable oil (which on the average will give you half a litre of biodiesel) cost almost 2 times the current price if diesel. So how far???

My car runs on diesel and I tot I could have a ball if I get spent cooking oil from the eatries in Lagos. I made some research and found that if I got the oil for free, the cost of production will be almost the same as buying from the Fuel station. But my research also told me that Biodiesel is better for my car so I decided to try and start making it. I went from one earery to the other. No one had spent oil to give. I finally discovered (from one of the staff of a major outlet chain)  that all the spent oil (from frying chips and chicken and stuff, is shared amongst the staff!!! Shocked And the staff are so happy to use this oil in their houses to prepare their food!!!! I could not beleive it but this was the reason why there was no waste oil. So abegi forget biodiesel and lets talk solar.

I have a 1.4kVA inverter running on 24volts comming from my 800AH battery bank. Oya all you solar gurus, tell me how I can reduce my recharge time. And someone also mentiond that you cannot recharge and run at the same time. Is this true???
