High Maintenance: Does It Get You More Dates?
« on: September 08, 2009, 03:16 PM »

i know a LOT of high maintenance ladies and gals. ladies who get their nails done twice a week. their hair done every week. guys who can't go 2 hours without spraying moisturizer on their hair. who always have to wear the latest sneakers. i went to a university that is known all around the state for its flashy, over-dressed female students. i always wondered if its worth it: wearing stilettos to lectures everyday, changing your weave every 2 days.

do high maintainence folks get more dates over those who are more, shall i say simple? are they more attractive? me, i can't stand high-maintainence, "metro-sexual" guys who look in the mirror more than i do.

what do ya'll think?
 Cool

Rofl that's high maintenance? I know some real high maintenance people.  I do my nails twice a week by myself coz i'm obsessed with nails Grin But i'm the least high maintenance female amongst all who are of my acquaintance.

Anyhoo i think some men like the high maintenance women, others can't handle it.  I'm not really into metro-sexuals anyway.  He'd only look like a woman next to me Grin

I would think that they do. partially because they're more proactive about finding dates than regular girls.
they also tend to date richer guys for obvious reasons and guys that are equally high maintenance ie very sharp looking guys.
And i think the high maintenance aspect extends beyond the physical characteristics (changing weaves, wearing stilletos etc) to the social. they tend to party a lot more, have similar type of friends, eat differently, travel more, basically live more expensive lifestyles.

and yes they look more attractive because they pay more attention to their physical appearance than the average girl
i know there are exceptions ( "i know a girl who still looks pretty wearing paper bag smeared with cow dung" yadi yadi yada) but IN GENERAL the high maintenance girls look more attractive.

Na wah oh. What kind of college did you go to? Guys using moisturisers every 2hours = Gay/Down low
I dont mind a chic that visits the salon every week, well, as long as she is the one paying for it.
For women, i dont really think its high maintenance to take good care of yourself. Guys appreciate that. On the other hand, a guy that looks in the mirror more than 2 times a day is Gay. Period. The issue with sneakers is still okay. Guys only do that to SHOW OFF.
As for me, the only time i even managed to rub "Pomade" back in college was during the winter cos otherwise i would be as Ashy as a mudafcuker. Moisturiser for where. Who had time for that. Throw on one plain T-shirt, some Levis, and my famous "Moses" slippers and im off to class. To hell with those americans who used to think sandals werent cool on guys. Grin

In my opinion, there ain't nuffin wrong wiv lookin really kempt. U know; Nice nails, clean hair, smart clothes. But when it's become such an obsession, then it becomes wrong, We all vain in our little way but too much is VAIN! And I think lookin simple and clean attracts more than lookin all vain and overly done, Looking that way would only attract people of your kind. i.e. Vain guys with a large ego who are ''money miss roads'', have cash to spend and they all out for the zipper  Smiley

I do my hair like every three weeks . Am a student on a budget!  Wink But boy, do I look so good!

@jaylinaa, I like you the way you are and how you presented your opinion here.
I wouldn't mind having a chat with you if you wouldn't mind.

As for the topic, everything in life boils down to taste. What you see as high maintenance
maybe no maintenance to another person.

I believe in moderation.

I normally don't understand by what people mean by High Maintenance babes ?

Is she a woman that can afford the luxuries she wears or one who lives beyond her means ? or do you mean a woman who is well-put together ?

what exactly does High Maintenance mean ? I don't think any woman is high maintenance.

There's this chick I saw today, my oga's handbag. Pretty, sporting the latest "bimbo hair", nice car, chanel suit, LV bag, laboutins (all authentic o), feeling like she was on top of the world. Damn bitch. Angry

Ok. That was off topic injected with a little bit of beef. Grin

Does her appearance get her more dates? Maybe, maybe not. However, her appearance affects the quality of dates.

If she is phucking your boss for these luxury items, she is a PROSTITUTE and NOT High maintainance.

Maybe high maintenance is a woman who can afford the luxuries she actually wears, or do you mean a RICH WOMAN ? Someone pls explain,

and if this is the case: A RICH WOMAN is not necessary HIGH MAINTENANCE.

Jeebus, all these judge and jury people sef.

What the girl does on her own time, frankly, is her business. However, she appeared really chic and expensive which is why I thought using her as an example might be relevant on this thread.

FYI:

Quote
High Maintenance
1. Requiring much time and many products to keep their appearance at the current level. 2. And/or requiring much attention from others in relationships, romantic or otherwise.
1. I know I'm high maintenance, said the beauty queen.
2. Anne was a high maintenance employee, with her nearly daily requests for time-off or time-shifting.
