@Donzman,
I noticed you said you are proud nollywood is the best in Africa, anyway, your one step at a time is taking too long. when you give birth to a baby, he is expected to grow following all the developmental patterns effectively at the scheduled time for each developmental stage. the parent becomes worried once a baby refuses to grow beyond one stage and chooses to be stagnant. the baby is then seen to be retarded or disabled. nollywood is a stunted baby that has remained stagnant just on one developmental stage, hence the reason why majority of us are worried. and just to correct you again, it is not the best in africa. i have repeated this for ages but you are refusing to see the fact because your mind is made up on your wrong notions. it is the most popular because of the no of productions it weekly shuns out and not the best. the south african movies are ranked the best in africa. chalize terron(not sure of her surname) is a south african and has won an oscar. just recently totsi, another south african production won another one. none of your english nollywood movies is yet to reach that mark talkless of surpassing it. so stop thinking everyone on this forum is a dunce that you can confuse with your fallacies!

At the end of the day, we the viewers choose which actors and actresses we like, thats our right.
End of story.
I think we all know that Nollywood has far to go, but we should also recognise how far they've come with what they had.
@Ronke, yes Nollywood could learn from South Africa and other African countries, but that goes for Yoruba films too.

chalize terron(not sure of her surname) is a south african and has won an oscar. Yeah she's South African but she's not a product of the South African movie industry but a product of Hollywood. Big difference!

ok. but then what defence do you have for totsi, a south african and not an english nollywood movie winning an oscar? whatever defence you put up, the fact remains that the south african productions are the best rated in africa and not EMG as u claimed. nollywood is most popular because of the amazing rate it shuns out movies weekly. that is the point i am trying to drive home.

Yeah. The first post is that of Orikinla, while the major arguments are those of Donzman and ThiefofHearts. There are lots of Nairaland topics on that forum, but this is the first I'll be seeing that the posts of the contributors too were copied along. Did you guys notice that the topic was even created today?

He's half Igbo, half Yoruba and he's married to a woman from the East. Seems more Igbo than Yoruba to me! Kanayo, you don't know what that means in Igbo?, Let's keep asking, keep asking God for the day Yoruba movies will be better than Nollywood.

[ b]another misleading information coming from you. it wouldn't be too difficult to check his profile up on the net as he is that popular. to help you out thou, his mum is ibo and the father is yoruba. his wife is akwa-ibom, so i wonder what makes desmond more ibo in this calculation?[/b]

Mama Ronke, where is this misinformation you speak of?, He's half Igbo, half Yoruba (check), his wife is from Akwa-Ibom(check), Akwa Ibom is basically East but people feel the need to differentiate South-South from South-East just to emphasize the different ethnic compositions. Geographically, there is no basis for that. People from Akwa Ibom have much more in common with Igbos than they do with Yorubas. He's as much Igbo as he is Yoruba, end of story!

He married a woman from the South-East does not make him more "eastern". He didn't marry her because she is from the South-East, he married her because he loves her. Also, he grew up in the north, so I don't know how that makes him more "Igbo". Besides, he's father is Yoruba, and that automatically makes him even more Yoruba.

nope, you are so wrong. akwa-ibom does not have anything more in common with the ighos than they do with the yorubas. i served in akwa-ibom in 1997 and if there is any tribe they hate the most, it is the ibos. this i learned during my service year. i think the distrust and the betrayal of the civil war caused this as i was told. he is yoruba, by nigerian calculations for the fact that his father is yoruba.

Donzman (m)

Ehh, Look at these hypocrites biting themselves on the ass. You served in Akwa Ibom, right , Ibibios hate Ibos, right, but they have more in common with us than they have with the Yorubas, that's a fact. Have you taken a look at the map yet? Here comes the hypocritical bit: he is yoruba, by nigerian calculations for the fact that his father is yoruba. You want to claim Desmond Elliot based on the fact that his dad is Yoruba and you want to claim Ramsey Nouah based on the fact that his mom is Yoruba. What happened to your "nigerian calcualations" when it came Nouah?, Haha, I know, you weren't thinking while you were typing. Don't worry, it happens alot when people try to challenge Donzman.

weird I though Awka Ibom was an Ibo state *shrugs* I figure people who refer to themselves in third person are actually retarded What does Ramsey himself claim?

goodguy (m)

You want to claim Desmond Elliot based on the fact that his dad is Yoruba No one here is claiming Desmond Elliot. He's not a property to anyone of us. His father is yoruba, a Lagosian, and that makes Desmond Yoruba. Simple! I wonder why this should even be an issue.

What does Ramsey himself claim? Donzman has heard time and time again, he says he's mixed. Half Isreali-Half Nigerian. No one here is claiming Desmond Elliot. He's not a property to anyone of us. Maybe Donzman should rephrase, Yoruba people in this thread are trying to tell Donzman that Elliot is Yoruba and nothing else. Thiefofhearts, Donzman says hi!
