NFF: We Are Sticking With Amodu!

Quote
NFF stick with Amodu

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have announced that the country's coach, Shuaibu Amodu, will not be sacked, even though they are now walking a tightrope in their quest to qualify for next year's World Cup.

Nigeria's Super Eagles were forced to a 2-2 draw at home by group leaders Tunisia on Sunday and so remain in second place in Group 2, two points behind the pace-setters with only the top team reaching the finals in South Africa.

Top government officials, the public and the media have called for Amodu to be sacked for incompetence.

However, the technical committee of the NFF has now thrown its weight behind Amodu, asking him to continue in his job for the remaining two qualifiers.

“Taking panicky measures at this time may even worsen the situation, so sacking Amodu may not be the best solution to the problem at hand," said technical committee member Adeboye Onigbinde.

"If a new coach comes in, is he going to throw away all the players we used during the last match against Tunisia and bring down his own players? And how long does he have to do that? And what is going to happen?”

Amodu took over from German coach Berti Vogts in April 2008 after Nigeria crashed out in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.

Onigbinde, who led Nigeria to the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan, disclosed that the technical committee also took several other decisions regarding the country's team.

“A few decisions were taken at the meeting with the coach. First, we are looking into the possibility of improving the team with some new players," he said.

“We are pleading not only with the members of the technical committee, but with anybody who has ideas to come out and help the team this time around.

“The question of the players is very vital in this matter. It is as important as the question of technical handlers. If you bring the best coach in the world, but the attitude of the players doesn’t change, you won’t have any good results.

“So we have resolved that when these players are invited and they come down we are going to talk to them and make them see reasons as to why they should have the right attitude and determination to win the remaining matches, while we pray for a slip from Tunisia in any of their matches.”

if amodu is married, nff shld stick to her.
i know many nigerians are not even interested in who the nff are or who the stick to.
i am only angry with those of us here who blame the players. if the players like, let them send their wives to represent them whenever they are invited.
nigeria, nff and the coaching crew deserve no good thing.
bunch of fat idiots.

I put my heart on Ivory Coast

Ghana too but no REAL STRIKERS. Eto'o with Cameroon anyday - though not sure of them progressing to the 2nd round.

Brazil for the World Cup. Since 1990, THE ONLY MAN to stop Brazil's hegemony has hanged  the BOOT - ZIDANE (98& 2006).

Germany, Spain & England should be the other semi-finalists if they don't meet earlier.

OTHERWISE, put your money on Guus Hiddink Russia. He is a semi-final specialist lol,

As for AMODU, even if we qualify, SIASIA  should be the Nations Cup Coach for a trial!

This Onigbinde guy is a big fool Angry. How can he even talk when people are talking about football in this country Embarrassed. He disbanded the team in 2002 and didn't take players like Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George, Celestine Babayaro and Tijani Babajide because Nigeria lost to Senegal. The same Senegal team shocked the world by beating France in the world cup. Onigbinde couldn't even qualify from the group stage. This country self. Why do we have a Technical Committee? It was obvious that the coach was not doing well. Rather than fire him, they set up a committee. I don tire 4 dis country oh!

Alejandro Verón, head of the 'Church of Maradona', had spoken against his hero. 'I look at him badly [as a coach],' Verón told Argentine radio. 'He has no strategic or tactical solutions. He doesn't have a system and the,  players don't respond to him.', 'God' questioned by his own church? Something has gone disastrously wrong, http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=675051&sec=worldcup2010&root=worldcup2010&cc=3888

I never see a country confused as Nigeria, the Onigbinde or wht ever he calls himself is as useless as Amudo.
Does a new coach need to throw awayall the players? We already have individaul talented players, all we need is a coach who can give them a winning game plan, a coach who can read a match and knows when he need to change a game plan, which i know non of them can offer. They should stop deciving thenselves. Bunchs committee of idiots.

Please can anyone help with the list of the members of the Presidential Task Force Committee on Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2010 World Cup. I also would not mind their profile. Does anyone have the link?

why is Yar'Adua always interested in emergency committee that will eventually fail. he promised to set up emergency committee on power which never came into existence. now he set up a presidential committee for world up as if it is committee that will go and play football. they will not do the right thinhs and then they will start setting up a committee.

you imagine nigeria still planting grass on stadia three months to under 17 world cup. when FIFA threatened they started their emergency.

arrant NONSENSE!!!!!

I think they should allow the guy finish what he started. They made a mistake in the first place by not giving the job to Siasia. Thats the price for not doing the right thing.
