~Not really, Not Always!! People almost always expect to be able to make an accurate guess that someone is Rich by how they dress but i think it depends on the Individual's prefrence to either announce his presence by choice of clothes or just blend in!

~Some Rich folks i know wear very casual stuff, you wudnt even know they're loaded! For Instance. . .They are those that Opt for discreet labels while others put on clothes w/ "newspaper" Labels or elaborate clothing!

~Me think it also differs depending on Social enviroments/status

You are so wrong. Other money miss roads will worship them or maybe people who have never had anything nice. People might respect you for the way you wear your clothes but certainly not because your clothes are expensive. I have seen people wear expensive jewelry and carry expensive purses and still I try not to make eye contact before they will think that I am now their friend

When did making eye contact become someone thinking you are their friend? Avoiding eye contact under any guise is simply one of jealousy, inferiority complex, fear or simply the fact that you admire them- forget that thing about you dont want them to think you are their friend - do you think they also want to be your friend? come on- dont think like a snake trying to eat a cat. shit. Dont put yourself where you are not- if i see anything good, i admire it, i go to the person shakes him or her, tell them how nice they look- life goes on - your likes are all over the place.

Sorry to say this but Dolly parton is one star that no matter what she wears, she still looks a bit trashy and ofcourse all her stuffs are probably expensive.
As someone said a good fashion sense is what is needed

Mariah Carey for all her money usually comes across cheap.

No the way one dresses doesn't describe one financially.

its all about looking good, either expensive or not. you see some clothes that are cheap but look good on you some girls especially, if they buy a cloth of 2000 naira they tell you its 10,000 naira and it does look good to worth the price. so whats the difference.

People pay more attention to a persons physical appearance this is because to us it reflects a persons happiness, social status, success; ability to get ahead. Image is not only important to young people,it cuts across all age groups and all areas of a persons life. Physical appearance is a very important if not the most important part of a persons image.

Image matters because impressions are made on limited observations, when we notice a person possesses a certain trait  we tend to assume that they have many similar traits. People are affected by your appearance whether or not they realize it and whether or not they think appearance is important. You weairng expensive clothes dont make a differnce to the impression you will make if they dont fit.

let me give you a practical example. I did an episode on a shoe for a look for less where my assignment was to replicate the two oufit in the pictures below and on the budget of N10,000 for the girl and N15,000 for the guy.

The guy wanted the preppy John legend look with the sweater vest theme and denimn jeans  whilt the girl wanted the same outfit with accesories for a night out. I dont have her complete picture but from her earrings to her shoes we got the whole outfit plus the clutch same thing for the guy.

So we went shopping on the budget and were able to get 90% likeness with the outfits they wanted and still within the budget not a naira more!! They both loved their outfits and the clothes were all new and great quality not chinese I assure you. Now if any of them walked into a room would you ever believ that was all they spent when some people spend millions and still the clothes dont fit and they dont have swagger to carry it.

As an Image consultant I make looking good effortless for you. With strategic partners in make –up, fashion etc I stay current on trends in clothing, make-up, customizing colours and fashions to fit your personality, budget and lifestyle. You can revel in a closet that is organized, colours that flatter you and styles that give you confidence and suit your needs.

My mission is to empower you to discover and achieve a look that brings you joy, personal satisfaction and supports your success. Check out our profile at https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-331516.0.html#msg4649877
