The Honda Hybrid Models the have now are pretty good when is comes to Gas millage.You can get about 28-30 MBG(city) and 31-35MBG(hwy) on a civic hybrid.

The cars with the best fuel efficiency is normally turbo -charged diesel engined cars.
From experience in Nigeria the VW 1.9 TDI that is used for Jetta( Bora) Passat, Golf and Polo( SDi) is the most fuel efficient. They are so good that Volvo and even Toyta are working together with VW for diesel engine development.
Their 8/12 cylinder TD engines are unmatched in the industry.
For Petrol engines Hondas and Toyotas are the leaders

Hybrid cars like the toyota prius return about 65mpg but there are also diesel cars like the Audi A3 1.9d and BMW 118d that return 50+ mpg.

Hi,
I think the author was asking of cars used in naija that are economical in fuel consumption, as far as i know those hybrid cars are yet to be driven or few on naija roads. The best fuel economy cars on our roads are VW, Toyota followed by honda then opel.

Personally, I can vouch for the Toyota Echo, prolly due to the Engine type (1.6) and I guess the same goes for other "tiny" engine cars.
But i've heard a lot about VW, the Golf especially and you'll find plenty of VWs taking the bulk of the car populace in places like Brazil.
I needn't be told to steer clear of the Volvo!

For most cars, don't know much about hybrids, it depends on the size of the engine. As you would espect a 1.4 engine is more likely to burn less fuel per mile than a 1.8 engine. The diesel cars are quite efficient, you get more bang for your buck, but I don't know how common they are in Naija. The VW and the Audi TDi are quite fuel efficient. You can get up to 50mpg which is about 80k with 4litres on the highways, not bad going,

Most 4 cylinder vehicles are Gas efficient if the preventive maintenance is done regularly.
1. Change your oil and oil filter every three thousand miles.
2. Service your Fuel injectors every year and change out the filters too.
3. Make sure your wheel and tire alignment is up to per at all times
4. Your tire pressure should always meet the OEM of the manufacturer of the vehicle.
5. Never let your vehicle idle for long periods of time.
6. Excess load on your Vehicle is never good for your engine.

i would say the honda cars. i had a honda accord and now i drive a mxima and i miss my honda because it has real good gas mileage compare dwih my nissan. but that don't mean my nissan aint good because nissans are greta too, ad toyota also.

What year is your camry?
Typically V6 engines consume more gas than regular 4 cylinder engines. So if you would like to know the gas milage, you might want to tell us the year of your camry!!!!!!!!

@ Smashing! This would be your best answer 4-cylinder cars tend to get better mileage in general, and this holds true for the Camry, including the 1997 model. According to fueleconomy.gov, you'll get 23 city/30 highway with an automatic transmission and 23/31 with a manual with a 4-cylinder engine. Bump it up to the (V6) 6-cylnder and your mileage drops to 19/26 with automatic and 20/28 manual. You can get more answers from http://www.fueleconomy.gov |
