There are times Wenger's starting XI had no single British player and this is a man who told the media foreign ownership will kill the English spirit.

Are you kidding me ? He does that everytime. This was the line up last weekend Name the English player there

Manuel Almunia, Gael Clichy, William Gallas, Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna, Cesc Fabregas, Vassiriki Abou Diaby, Andrey Arshavin (Emmanuel Eboue, 78), Alexandre Song, Robin van Persie (Aaron Ramsey, 86), Nicklas Bendtner (Da Silva Eduardo, 37)

Maybe an englishman would have played if not that he was taken out by a fellow english man by a tackle, which was described by the same english press as a 'strong, old fashioned one'.
Anyway, save your breadth dude,
An English man would be left back for the next one month

Platini is an idiot - keep talking about Arsenal and talking nonsense. English players do not necessarily improve anything, if they did Tottenham would be class but they are a wobbly pile of horse manure.  Grin Grin

With Clichy injured, Gibbs will get a run in the side, nullifying the rubbish about not having English players in the side.

I'm saddened by Clichy's injury though, I think he played one of his best games in recent times against Spurs. Let's hope Gibbs has improved from last season and continues to get better.

Who is going to be our heading point man in his absence? Oh. . . I forgot we have Gallas and Vermaelen.  Grin

Seriously though, we seem to have an 'injury quota' that must always remain at the same level. Almunia returns and Fabianski is injured again, Eduardo returns and Bendtner is injured, Rozzi returns and Clichy is injured. That's not counting Denilson, Djourou and Walcott who are all out as well.

Seems we will always need a bigger side than most teams due to our never ending injury issues.

Why didnt Platini stay in France for the entirety of his career. When he went to Turin, Juve were doling out cash to their players. Why didnt he just remain in france and keep french football french. F**king hypocrite.

Suara, please dont come here and be trying to postulate your rumors as fact. Sonderos never earned that ridiculous amount you are quoting there. Arsenal does not have a disgustingly wide margin in player wages. Where popular players are earning eye-bulging amounts and the less popular ones are being paid chicken feed.

When Ridgewell took down walcott the stupid english media were creaming themselves about how grit should remain in the english game. They dont want to be softies. The other day a foreign analysts was expalining to them, they will continue to underchieve if their players continue to turn up at tournaments recuperating from being bruised and battered.

Ruskie abeg dont invite that loser here. Let him not come and stain us with his mediocrity. Teams are flying high right left and centre. He is there glorying in the UCl he won when Obama had not yet started politics.

Fabregas collects October gong
Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has been crowned October's PFA Fans' Player of the Month in the Premier League.

Not least his team-mates and manager who hold the midfield genius in such high esteem. He's getting better with age and, considering he's still only 22, that's quite frightening.

The Spaniard is the heartbeat of an Arsenal team that many believe play the best, most attractive football of any side in the country. Again, no arguments there.

The architect of the majority of Arsenal moves, Fabregas also has the ability and vision to get himself on the end of some of them.

Such a knack has prompted manager Arsene Wenger to liken him to Chelsea's Frank Lampard, whom Fabregas edged out in the October voting.

Wenger said of his skipper: "He's a bit like Lampard in that he wants to structure the game.

"Cesc likes to be at the start of things and then get on the end of things, and he can push forward more this season because he has two players around him who can defend."

Fabregas has many fans, hence his latest award, but few are bigger than his Arsenal team-mate Theo Walcott who fully appreciates what the captain brings to the team.

Walcott said: "He is fantastic to play with because he spots everything on the pitch and times his passes to perfection, so that you don't even need to break stride.

"He is still so young and, as captain, has a lot of pressure on his shoulders yet he continues to deliver. He is a fantastic person to learn from. It's hard to believe he is still only 22."

After Fabregas and Lampard, Chelsea hot-shot Didier Drogba third in this month's voting, with Manchester City's Craig Bellamy fourth and fellow striker Darren Bent of Sunderland fifth.

Congrats Fab4

I’m really angry this morning! First it was Bendtner pulling off with a groin injury, then Eduardo missing a sitter he should have scored. The news that we play Man City in the Carling cup wouldn’t have been hard to take except that our game in hand will now have to be pushed further away and we’ll have to wait even longer before we can even think of going top pending a capitulation by the Chelski or Manure!

As if that wasn’t enough, I found out that the flashes and floaters in my left eye were not as a result of a hex by dayokanu or obertan but that the gel had moved and the light was reflecting of something it shouldn’t be. Then the doctor tells me she sees no breakages and I have wait it out unless it gets worse! Geez, I bet she wouldn’t have said that if it was here eye. She left me so dilated I couldn’t even cross the street properly.

Speaking of crossing, I haven’t been too impressed with Gael Clichy’s crossing this season and I feel he could be doing much better. He’s not going to have the chance anytime soon though as he’s had the unfortunate luck of pulling up with a stress fracture of the back. How does one get that? One man’s misfortune is usually another man’s blessing as Kieran Gibbs has the nod to start at left back for the next few weeks.

While we didn’t learn anything new about Spurs on Saturday. Apart from the fact that the win made it 1000 points for Wenger, it would be nice to remind ourself of a few things we already know about them.

1. Robbie Keane is a twat
2. Spurs are a sh*t team
3. Harry Redknapp has got a twitch!

Fancy them talking themselves up about a win at the grove just yet after how many (16?) years of trying! Bollocks! They need to get their heads checked every now and then when they come down the Seven Sisters Road.

Manuel Almunia was fantastic in goal apparently spurred on by a three-way race for first spot with Mannone and Fabianski. Oh and Eduardo should have lobbed Gomes when he was one-on-one with him. He had three options; lob, dribble or sidefoot. He took the easy option and unfortunately didn’t do a very good job. Smells a bit of a lack of sharpness. With Bendtner’s injury, he should start against AZ as the boss doesn’t yet reckon that Rocky is ready to start.

On some footie results last night Bayern lost at home to Bordeaux (Dayokanu where art thou!) and Chelsea and Man Utd came away with draws at home and away respectably respectivly!

Now Silent Stan has been at it again! He’s gone and bought another 427 shares to increase his stake in Arsenal to 29.6 per cent. The shares were purchased from the estate of Ernest Harrison, the British industrialist, at a cost of £3.6 million. All he needs is another .3% and he’d have to make a formal bid to take over the club offering not lower than the highest price he paid for the shares in the last 12 months.

Consequently, the Arsenal Supporters Trust has released the following statement. It is quite lengthy, but worth the read.

“When Stan Kroenke first invested in Arsenal the AST sought a dialogue with him and visited Denver to inspect some of his other sporting operations. We saw first hand the sports marketing and property development expertise he could offer and successfully called upon the club to invite him to join the Board.

“Yet whilst the AST welcome Stan Kroenke’s involvement, we agree with the sentiment of Peter Hill-Wood’s statement at the most recent AGM that there is no need for any shareholder to launch a takeover of the club. The AST believes in plurality of ownership.

“If a takeover is launched by any party, we would seek urgent discussions with those involved.

“The AST has a good relationship with both Stan Kroenke and members of his team at Kroenke Sports Enterprises (KSE). We have stressed to them the importance of custodianship and that the club will be stronger if it has supporters directly involved in its ownership model. While we cannot vouch for their future actions we are encouraged that they have said they see the AST having an important role to play at Arsenal.

“The AST has repeatedly stated that we are generally opposed to a takeover and would fight any plans that require the club to incur debt to pay for a takeover as has happened at Manchester United and Liverpool.

“Two red lines that cannot be crossed are the use of debt secured on the club’s assets to fund a takeover and an ownership structure which excludes small shareholders.

“The AST’s own assessment of today’s development is that a takeover is not imminent and that today’s purchase is the consolidation of an existing position.

Well said! Now let’s get on with the football. Diaby was at the press conference with Arsene, so I assume he’ll be starting. Although the boss seems to have noticed what a majority of the Arsenal fans are upset with Diaby about.

“I must say he is attracted like a magnet by the opponent’s goal,” said the boss. This usually leaves us short at the back nevertheless, his good behaviour in the last few games may have something to do with Arsene having a private word with him. He continued;

“You do not want to take that out of the players when they are at such a young age but what we can be as well is a little bit more controlled. We do not need to have seven players running forward when you are 1-0 or 2-1 up with five minutes to go. That is something I have told him to take responsibility for in the team.”

I believe the lineup will be largely unchanged from the one that played Tottenham except for Kieran Gibbs at left back and Eduardo up front in place of Bendtner. The boss may also choose to rest Sagna for Eboue with more games coming in November.

I don’t expect anything less than a resounding victory over AZ tonight – more like a teach you a lesson kind of game! Still it’s important not to underate any teams in the Champions League as was the case with Manure vs CSKA and Bayern(!) against Bordeaux.

Apparently, Robin Van Persie has been watching AZ and says they are unpredictable. He said;

“It’s going to be strange because they are unpredictable. “They drew against an amateur side [recently] and lost at the weekend to Ajax. “They had a good first half but not so good second half. It is hard to know what to expect from them. If we win, we have ten points and have basically qualified.”

Juventus seem to have taken a fancy to Bacary Sagna while Benik Afobe and Fran Merida seem to be on their way to Spain if you believe the papers. Apparently, Barcelona are still seething from the loss of Cesc Fabregas and Fran Merida that they have set their sights on revenge by signing up the England U17 star for their reserve team. Apparently, a £5,500 deal has been reported.

If I were you Benik, I’d sit my arse at Colney and wait for my turn cos you’ll end up waiting for much longer before you get a look into that Barcelona first team! The Merida to Atletico Madrid story is old, but worth watching as he might just do a Flamini on us. Beware of the curse of the departing players. Only very few have ever done better elsewhere!

For some reason, Eboue wants to play for PSG, while great train robber Ronnie Biggs feels well enough to see Arsenal play at the Emirates. Cesc Fabregas has also been crowned October’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for top-flight…I wonder who will be the EA Sports Arsenal player of the month for October…Vote or Die!

The game is live at 19:45 GMT on Hi Sports

Till tomorrow…Victoria Concordia Crescit!

Clichy out Sad Sad
Quote
"We have some bad news,” replied Arsène Wenger when asked for an injury update ahead of the game with AZ Alkmaar.

The Arsenal manager was not wrong.

He revealed that Gael Clichy would be sidelined for “a few weeks” with a stress fracture in his back. Meanwhile Wenger added that he still was not sure about the severity of Nicklas Bendtner’s groin problem but he described it as “serious” and re-iterated that the Danish striker would be out for around a month.

On the upside, Tomas Rosicky is back in the squad after knee trouble but he will not start the Champions League tie with the Dutch champions.

“Bendtner is quite seriously injured,” said Wenger at Tuesday’s press conference. “And on top of that, we have lost Gael Clichy with a back injury which was not expected.

“It looks like he could be out for a while. We fear a stress fracture but we will know more of that tonight. But if that is the case, he will be out for a few weeks.

“Nicklas we still do not know yet but we suspect four weeks. Rosicky will be in the squad tomorrow. He will still be short to start but he will be involved. The two goalkeepers will be Almunia, who will play, and Mannone.”

Kieran Gibbs will cover the loss of Clichy. With games coming thick and fast, the Englishman was likely to be involved during November anyway. Thankfully, Wenger’s other left back option is close to a return.

“Armand Traore has been injured but he is back in normal training on Thursday so he will be the solution as left back cover,” said Wenger. “Fortunately at this Club, we are gifted always with very good left backs.”

Frankly the spate of injuries IS worrying - I think AW made a mistake starting Bendtner so soon after his injury, but then again, maybe we didn't have too many options.

With Gibbs and Trarore (both very attacking and not very defensive) we might have cover, but I hope Clichy is back by January for the big time games that will define our season.

We must keep our concentration for 90mins today and win the game - yesterday's results showed that being a big EPL side isn't sufficient to win games - keep it tight or you will be punished.

Win, qualify for the next stage and then we can start focusing on handling the fixture pile up that beckons.

My starting line up would be:

                            Almunia

Sagna    Gallas                   Vermaelen     Gibbs

                           Song

           Diaby                     Cesc

Eduardo             RVP                    Arshavin

Come on you red and white army!!!  Cool

as per Bendtner, thank God Verminator and Gallas have taken over his head-scoring duties from him  Grin, and I dont see him having done any better than any of Walcott and Eboue in that right wing position AW has been playing him often this season  Cool

I am highly optimistic that this game will be wrapped up with early goals in our favour, that should settle it, I also hope Diaby does well enuff in the game, if not we should have a glimpse of Nasri if he is not squeezed into the starting line-up  Wink

Why not? If they all played against Tottenham then we can play them. The only reason not to do that will be protecting a striker from injury. I hope he doesn't start Eboue up front cos the boy is still useless at shooting or crossing from there.  Undecided

Bendtner has been better than Eboue - stop chatting poppycock, with three goals this season how isn't that better?  Huh One of the reasons WG and TV have scored more than him is because being placed wide limits the headers he gets in the box. I hope so, and particularly it's time for AA23 to start showing his mettle on the European stage. I sometimes wonder what u are smoking ?  Shocked

Eboue isnt by any means a forward . . .Bendtner is, so stop being stupid !

the essence of Bendtner being in the team even if playing from the wings is to score goals, if however he does or he doesnt it never will be wise using goals to compare them as Eboue is a converted midfielder/defender but his game play has been better than Bendtner, bring out the player ratings of these 2 players over the games they have played and compare  Tongue Eboue is a bundle of wahala for any team whilst as a defender MYSELF the only time I would disturb myself is when Arsenal have a corner-kick to play against my team, and defo these days I will ignore him and focus on WG and Verm . . .he has become so toothless a bulldog that one wonders why in the current team he cant even prove himself distinctly in a Carling Cup team  Grin  Grin

AA needs to prove he is actually as good as even FAB4, forget the hype associated with him before . . .how can someone playing footie in Russia previously now be adjudged the biggest player in Arsenal ? SONG IS A BIGGER PLAYER, AT LEAST HE WAS MVP AT THE LAST OLYMPICS Huh  Grin

If he plays well, Arsenal play well. QED!!!

lovely game,  a brace by el capitano
nasri's welcome back was beautiful,  i think the senior players always chance him he shd have taken that indirect freekick in thee box as he is not afraid to shoot
the gol is gd for his confidence and it seems he has washed the ghosts of the pre season hence the hand gesture

AA as usual was quiet but he stood up for the assist for diaby

nice back flick by edu

we r thru but our unclean sh%t still bothers me and it smells

we can now focus on epl,

i think we need to bench AA23 for some games so he can sit up

Nice game, Cesc always shows why he is the captain, the boy is just too much.
all in all everyone was fine, i still dunno why Eboue likes falling down even when he should not, i mean small touches he finds the turf Undecided
Arshavin was missing in most of the match IMO Undecided Nasri's celebration was crazy lol, like he was saying  am now new born am clean Grin Grin
Diaby is still a darling  Grin Duduspace i loff him Tongue
Almunia that goal was really not necessary Angry, Though the other save was very impressive, Grin
Everyone else tried, and i was glad i didnt get to watch Silvestre Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

Good game guns, we keep this momentum till we meet the chavscum and teach them a lesson too Cheesy

Another big victory for the gunners - midfielders scoring freely.  Cool

Gibbs shows he still has some way to go, but otherwise was competent.

I'm disappointed we didn't get the clean sheet, and again AA23 was flitting in and out, though he had two assists.

Prince Nasri's goal was the pick of the bunch, what skill, what composure and what a clinical finish.  Cheesy

All the other premiership representatives drew so I am still very pleased by the result.  Cool

Shattap - Cesc's is undoubtedly the best player at Arsenal so far this season - his goals, creation and overall play has been peerless.  Cool

AA23 will kick on later, but for now he needs to pull his socks up with regards to goals.

Even lil Ramsey hit the bar.  Cheesy
