I regard this thread as an insult to the Nigerian person or indeed a real African. You must only be a bastard to so much degrade our culture. Tribal mark is our culture. The Europeans you want to be, the Europeans you feel better eating their food, wearing their cloths and singing their songs are so protective of their own culture.
Because an European does not wear tribal marks doesn't mean it's bad or barbaric. Infact the lady in question should be proud of herself. Those days, only poor people go about with faces like wall (without marks), these days, a wall face is a symbol of a de-culturised fellow. Thanks.

you must be so local to think of a  tribal marks as a culture that should still be in existence, why is your name not dende, mufu, or sule etc, why mark according to  your Id?

all those advocating plastic surgery, remember stella oooo! a word is enough! Shocked

This is like saying people should not travel by air again because of the Bellview, Sosoliso, etc plane crash of 3 yrs ago.  I'm sure many people must have done, and are still undergoing the same surgery Stella did without any problems.  Stella's case was simply unfortunate.

Try ironing them off with a very hot electric iron set at the highest temperature.
It works. Know a friend who did and you'll never believe he ever had tribal Grin marks.

i wonder why some sick tribalists who are high on sme cheap ogogoro will always want to take cheap shots at other tribes.it shows the level of some pples mentality and their poor upbringings. thank God that no one is giving them any attention. cheap attention seekers.
@poster,u already got the marks and their is nothing u can do about it. if a particular man or woman doesnt like u about it,look for ones who does.give urself a big dose of confidence and say "am beautiful both inside and out side with or without tribal marks"

Even though tribal marks is our culture, I am strongly against it because it does not give a person the power to decide whether they want the marks on their face in the first place.

you are a fool. Yes--a fool. A big one for that matter. For you to lump up amala, ewedu--a staple in Yoruba culture--into one box  with tribal marks to be attacked by your xenophobic comments exemplifies how much of a buffoon you really are. To call amala, ewedu, and tribal marks cowardly, insulting, ugly, black, , shows that you lack self esteem, and you are trying to downgrade another just to uplift your moronic self. And to implicitly ridicule amala, ewedu, and tribal marks by referral to religion--"they are too religious, christian, muslim,"--shows that you have no regard for God.

She should go for plastic surgery. Tribal marks are so ugly, I've seen men with tribal marks, but I have never seen any woman with tribal marks, if I see a woman with tribal marks, I'll run as fast as I can in the other direction. Imagine the contestants in The Most Beautifull Girl In Nigeria beauty paegant with tribal marks, they will have to rename the show, the most beautifull girl in your villlage.

i have never seen tribal marks on well written poem or a well scripted novel. some of the best known inventors had physical disabilities. yet they were not daunted.
if your friend feels inferior because of her tribal marks, let her turn inwards and let loose her creative talents. the world will remember her for her works and not her looks.

To all those saying that tribal marks are wonderful and the best thing since sliced bread, please post YOUR own marks for us to see and judge.Just the marks!Your whole face does not have to show.

Granted that it is part of our culture, but it is in the PAST and should not continue, Genital mutilation of females was also ONCE part of some cultures, but now it is hardly done anymore.

peace!
