this is far by the best African book i have read in a while (havnt read much thou). have to say i rate it better than Chimamanda Adichie's 2 books i have also read. . . personal opinion
different languages/ diff settings- countires/ fanatastic stories/ a wonderful narration!

The man's novel and his selection/induction into Oprah's book club, I think, would lead to an interest in Nigerian literature again.

Who the hell is Oprah? I detest her ever since she made those remarks about Nigeria and asked the American govt to sever relationship with 9ja. Suddenly evryone here praise her, good one for Akpan though. Her show used to be my favorite cos i was proud of the fact she's black doing magnificient things o'er there, but i was devastated when she made those Ugly defamating statements on Nigerians. Too bad im not in US.

I'm with u joo. Oprah lost me as a fan of her person and her show when she went on that anti- Nigeria campaign of hers. I couldn't care less what she thinks of anything now.
