@Kobojunkie Dude honestly id have to ask your age, because if your idea of making an argument is deviating into unrelated and irrelevant issues in an attempt to steer up different emotions, then id have to say; THAT'S ABSOLUTELY CHILDISH. Look at your posts and honestly tell me how anything you have stated is related to anything that's been said? I believe that is the true definition of a rant. DON’T MISTAKE LACK OF INFORMATION OR IGNORANCE FOR STANDING ON YOUR GROUND. YOU HAVE NO GROUND WHEN YOU ARE WRONG AND BEGIN TO LOOK FOOLISH WHEN YOU CHOOSE NOT TO UNDERSTAND THAT. The beginning of correcting an ill starts when you identify that it is an ill and treat it as such. And that is simply what has been done. It might not make that much of an impact but at least the world understands today that Nigerians do not appreciate how their economy has been portrayed. It is not different from making a protest. I don’t know how many Nigerians you have lived with but to say that Nigerians are racist or have racist issues, is a clear statement that you know nothing about Nigeria. Racism is not Tribalism, you live in South Africa you of all people should understand that., That’s why when I say u are daft…It’s not an insult…just common sense

Has anyone ever thought about it that maybe Sony and the Directors of the movie District 9 saw this coming? We all know how our dear mama Dora gaffs alot!! Just maybe Sony thoguht this could be a cheap hipe for a low budget movie in a continent where they are still ''developing''. But come to think of it, now that FG banned the movie, people would want to see what really warranted the banning and hence Sony smiles to to bank yippppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad we have clarified the issue regarding Nigerians Being RACIST Towards South Africans which is definitely a False assumption.
Granted there are some very misinformed Nigerian individuals who have never been to SA and comment based on reprots they hear from their relatives. The fact of the matter is overwhelmingly NIGERIANS are neither RACIST NOR XENOPHOBIC to South Africans or any other group of Africans for that matter.
i still stand by my pint that I agree with the ban afterall Iran did the same thing when the movie 300 came out in whihc the Persians were depicted as gross monstrous Giant killers.

No @Morpheus. I said Nigerians are just about as XENOPHOBIC and as RACIST as there South African Counterparts. We cry foul because SOME(NOTE, NOT ALL) South Africans(and I must add, the very IGNORANT ONES TOO, since I see you there claiming only the IGNORANT Nigerians are to be counted here) have pushed it to the extreme. But Reality is BOTH SIDES have their share of ignorant beings, and some of ours have, on here, revealed themselves. Only a couple of years ago, we did about the same to the Liberians and the ghanians amongst us. I believe that when we judge others, we ought to judge ourselves in the same exact way. Like I said, I have friends and family down in South Africa, and I can tell yuou that some of my own friends would classify as RACISTS considering their view of the average south african. If the above is not in line what you believe of this, then that is again, fine by me but I will not deny what I know so I can latch onto someone else's take which I have no way of verifying. I really don't give a hoot how the next man feels PERSONALLY of the movie. Matter of fact, I don't buy into the SENTIMENTALIZATION of all things that make mention of Nigeria in bid to score some point or another on the international front. I am simply stating here, that regardless of view, those pointing fingers at South Africans being racist simply because of a thread on a movie are seriously reaching and most likely as racist as the south africans they accuse considering the hate they themselves have shovelled out against the NATION simply cause of a movie such as this one. As for you comparing Iran's reaction to the movie 300 to this, I must add that 300 is sort of based on history of PERSIA, and there were no aliens, and I don't see why we ought to continue comparing ourselves to some of the lowest out there. But then, that is just me. I just think it is ridiculous that the same government shouts in public of how they will annihilate a whole nation but take offense to a movie on old persia. But then, that is for Iranians to deal with.

@ArseQPR Some of you still don't get it do you, no one give a S**T if the film makes billions or whether it's low budget or not. I mean the primary objective is to make a profit no matter stupid the movie is. Whether Dora Gaff or not the fact still remains, SHE HAS DONE WHAT IS REQUIRED OF HER AND ANY ONE WITH A LITTLE SENSE IN THEIR HEADS CAN SEE THAT, Like i said someone please tell the Morons to stop making stupid posts just because they need to punch their keyboards!!!! Maybe your mama dora gaffs a lot but i am not sure we are talking about the same person. And who the hec is we, i honestly dont think the like of Gititan, morpheus, the viper, sagamite and a whole lot of other are part of that "WE" , JERK!!!!

Only a couple of years ago, we did about the same to the Liberians and the ghanians amongst us. Sorry men, but you are obviously trying to make a point and using inaccurate information or should I say misguided facts. fortunately, we (my family) were here in Nigeria during the the "Ghana Must Go era". The Nigerian government took a policy to expel ghanians who had illegally entered into Nigeria and were taking up jobs Nigerian were too lazy to take up, (note that I mentioned "Lazy"). This was clearly a legal government policy back then which did not result in the murder of a hundred Ghanaians. If I recall correctly, the only Ghanaian deaths recorded were three individuals who died while trying to board a boat to Ghana. And as for Liberia, please go and clarify you facts my friend. Liberians were in Nigeria due to a refugee situation and no Nigerian was recorded as being racists to Liberians. In fact two Liberian Warlords relocated to Nigeria, Yomi Johnson and Charles Taylor. I know all this because our embassy (Italian embassy) relocated no less than 300 Liberians to Italy and from records obtained from these refugees (first hand information) their people in Nigeria were being harassed by Liberians loyal to the Warlords. A clear case study was a lady called Mable Jones, who was beaten up by Yomi Johnson on six occasions and received several death threats from him because he wanted to kill her two children. Through our embassy she was relocated to the USA. This was just one case out of the hundreds that we treated. Up till now there has not been a complaint that Nigerians killed or assaulted any Liberian refugee. Please don,t compare South Africa's Xenophobes and the so called racists Nigerians that you know. Racism is not a common thing in Nigeria. I know that even being a non-Nigerian. If the above is not in line what you believe of this, then that is again, fine by me but I will not deny what I know so I can latch onto someone else's take which I have no way of verifying. I really don't give a hoot how the next man feels PERSONALLY of the movie. Taken my friend. No one has asked you to deny what you know, that's why it is your opinion. However don't condemn or criticize others for theirs. The issue concerning the movie affects Nigerians and how they feel or react should not be criticized by you or anyone who feel otherwise. The issue of Racism only came up because the South African were also regarded in the same light as being lazy. No one has said that South Africans were racists, in fact it is the other way around. Read the posts. The phrase I recall is" Lazy South Africans". So let Nigerians react, get angry and be sentimental if they so choose, it is their right to express themselves. If the movie was okay for you don't go throwing it in their face because they have a valid reason to be upset. Your constant trying to down play their feelings is what has generally resulted into these posts that you find offensive. As for you comparing Iran's reaction to the movie 300 to this, I must add that 300 is sort of based on history of PERSIA, and there were no aliens, and I don't see why we ought to continue comparing ourselves to some of the lowest out there. From the way you make your point my friend, it is obvious that you really don't rely on facts and you really don't consider history as a tool for pointing out the obvious. I will not comment on your depiction of Iran, all I would say is go to a history book and read up their history, you may find out that you should practice some restraint in sharing your opinion.

If I recall correctly, the only Ghanaian deaths recorded were three individuals who died while trying to board a boat to Ghana. You lived in Nigeria all of the 80’s and 90’s through the “GHANA MUST GO ERA”, and through all the animosity that built up between those on the Nigerian side who blamed Ghanaians for their(the Nigerians) inability to find work and a better life and those on the Ghanaian side who argued that they(Ghanaians) had been in the country long enough to be given a change, but all you can say is the only recorded Ghanaian deaths were 3 individuals who died while trying to board boats to Ghana?? Roflmao!!!! WOW! I cannot believe any person could actually come up with such. You seriously mean you lived through all the calls from people in the COMMUNITY for government to do something about the Ghanaians who seemed to be taking over in most every area, and you want to push it all off as a SOLELY government move to expel illegal immigrants? I don’t know what else to do but laugh at this point. Roflmao!! And as for Liberia, please go and clarify you facts my friend. Liberians were in Nigeria due to a refugee situation and no Nigerian was recorded as being racists to Liberians. What records do you continue to refer to? How many refugees in Nigeria do you actually know of that would have stepped up to our dear policemen to have his name taken down for any reason? Seriously, what record do you continue to refer to? Did your records also contain information of the Liberian thief who was burnt to death right in front of our building back some decades ago while his accomplices who were Nigerians were let go? In fact two Liberian Warlords relocated to Nigeria, Yomi Johnson and Charles Taylor. I know all this because our embassy (Italian embassy) relocated no less than 300 Liberians to Italy and from records obtained from these refugees (first hand information) their people in Nigeria were being harassed by Liberians loyal to the Warlords. Racism is not a common thing in Nigeria. I know that even being a non-Nigerian. May I suggest you go back to LAGOS and ask the people who actually lived in Nigeria during the times you speak of to get you FACTS rather. Driving down the streets of Lagos, one did not have to have perfect vision to note the many graffiti on the walls and calls for Liberians to be kicked out of the country. Beggars were labeled Liberians and people did all they could to treat them like trash too. I remember quite well when it seemed the streets of Yaba were overwhelmed by these beggars. Yes, your refugees turned to begging and became a nuisance. Matter of fact, some were killed in riots and you are here telling folks NO ONE FOREIGNER EVER DIED IN NIGERIA? WOW!! Anywho, I still do not see why counting number of deaths is any way to measure racism. It is rather naïve to think that a measure of level of racism should be solely based on the number of deaths that result, don’t you think? Racism is not a common thing in Nigeria? WOW!!! Dude, you definitely don’t know much about that country, do you? I am not even in the country today and I can tell you that you are dead wrong on that one. Taken my friend. No one has asked you to deny what you know, that's why it is your opinion. However don't condemn or criticize others for theirs. What in the world are you going on about now? Is it that you have essentially summed up all the hate posts in the last 20 something pages to “LAZY SOUTH AFRICANS”? Are you sure you are dealing with FACTS here, considering I can read clearly and can definitely pick out over a hundred lines claiming this is a SOUTH AFRICAN problem. I am a Nigeria; you made it clear you are not. I have a right to throw my love of the movie in as many faces as I want. I don’t know where in the world you get the idea that I can’t. Of course, I can downplay their feelings because a) I am a Nigerian, b) I happen to have ACTUALLY seen the movie and c) I happen to have loved the movie. What the heck? Roflmao!!! Why again am I not allowed to express my view on this? Let me guess, because my view does not line up with yours? What the heck. What in the world are you here telling me of what I can or cannot do as a Nigerian? And why in the world are you the one responding to my post, obviously to someone else? From the way you make your point my friend, it is obvious that you really don't rely on facts and you really don't consider history as a tool for pointing out the obvious. I will not comment on your depiction of Iran, all I would say is go to a history book and read up their history, you may find out that you should practice some restraint in sharing your opinion.
Dude, I am not sure you understand what fact means or even how to get it right considering you have so conveniently dismissed the reality of life in Nigeria in the last 30 years. Roflmao!!!! WOW As a matter of fact I did live through the 80s and 90s in Nigeria my friend. You see, its the thing I see with many Nigerians, (that's why the situation of bad leadership is persistent) you rely more on "hear-say" information and never try to investigate or draw conclusions from reality that is right before your eyes. Yes, the Buhari government needed to show Nigerians it had a proactive stance and hence it called for a mass deportation of Ghanaian immigrants within Nigerian (A tactic used by many African countries with leaders who try to act as if they were doing something). However, my point is, I didn't see Nigerians murdering Ghanaian in cold blood as compared to South African Xenophobes. (And as I said before, your comparison of the two situations needs to be checked). And as for the calls made by Nigerians that you claim, I am the one laughing my ass off because you really have no idea of what happened during this period. As for how I know and my facts, we make it our business to know all about every country we are allied with, every minute detail, every piece that you even consider trivial, we make it our business to know. How do you think we have survived in Nigerian markets and dominating Nigerian industries for more that 30years, I dare say I know more about this country than you do. Between 1991 and 1993, the Italian embassy relocated no less than 500 Liberian refugees to Italy, Malta, Cyprus and the USA. I worked as a UN volunteer back then and I happened to have met no less than 200 of these refugees and did the paper work of at least 50 of whom I managed to know 15 by name and still keep contact with them. Our embassy worked directly with the Nigerian Police force in relocating all these people WHOSE NAMES WHERE GIVEN TO US BY THE NIGERIAN POLICE AND NIGERIAN IMMIGRATIONS. How come you don't know this? ?, Liberian thief burnt to death in front of your house, I cannot dispute this because I don't know you or where you lived in Yaba ( I lived on Queens Street for 15 years) however, I my years I have seen a lot of young men, all Nigerian burnt to a cinder in the name of armed robbery. I don't see your point if one you saw was a Liberian. A thief is a thief in Nigeria O. WOW!! Sorry what streets in Lagos do you refer to. AND YES, MANY LIBERIAN RESULTED TO BEGGING IN NIGERIA, TO BE PRECISE 60 INDIVIDUALS WERE REMOVED FROM THE STREETS OF LAGOS BY OUR EMBASSY AND AT LEAST 10 WERE INSTITUTED FOR DRUGS ADDICTION. All that being said, there is no country in the world that likes a refugee situation because it is not easy to rehabilitate a refugee not to mention hundreds of refugees. We had strong resistance from many countries who we felt could help out with the situation in 1993. And I did not say no one foreigner ever died in Nigeria, to be precise, that is not my statement at all. I clearly stated that Nigerians would not kill any foreigner based on Xenophobia or racism. The riots you mentioned, I am sure have nothing to do with fear or hate red for Liberians. Nigerians have died in riots to. Any who, I still do not see why counting number of deaths is any way to measure racism. It is rather naïve to think that a measure of level of racism should be solely based on the number of deaths that result, don’t you think? Agreed. Racism is not a common thing in Nigeria? WOW!!! Dude, you definitely don’t know much about that country, do you? I am not even in the country today and I can tell you that you are dead wrong on that one. And I and so many other foreigners and Nigerians can tell you like wise (that you are the one who is dead wrong). What the heck? What in the world do you get the “LAZY SOUTH AFRICANS” crap? What in the world are you going on about now? Is it that you have essentially summed up all the hate posts in the last 20 something pages to “LAZY SOUTH AFRICANS”? Are you sure you are dealing with FACTS here, considering I can read clearly and can definitely pick out over a hundred lines claiming this is a SOUTH AFRICAN problem. I have read them to. Please quote them so we can debate the facts. Roflmao!!! Sorry dude, Like I said also, its your opinion. All I said was don't criticize other Nigerians who feel aggrieved, but if you feel it is your right to criticize them and downplay their feelings because you liked the movie, you have watched the movie and you are a Nigerian too, then, I guess guys like Nork, Sagamite and the Viper have the right to say whatever the like to you because they are Nigerians too, they have seen the movie and they hate the movie, One love men, Niaja for life, You will never catch Italians doing this or any other developed nations saying what you just said. As a matter of fact I did live through the 80s and 90s in Nigeria my friend. You see, its the thing I see with many Nigerians, (that's why the situation of bad leadership is persistent) you rely more on "hear-say" information and never try to investigate or draw conclusions from reality that is right before your eyes. Never said anything about hear say. I actually witnessed a couple. In fact I lived in an area were a lot of affected Ghanians resided. Not sure where in my post, you get that it was ALL hear say. By the way, you do realize that you are speaking of a time when the government was known to COVER UP as much of its own atrocities as it could. Not even sure if we are speaking of the same Nigeria here considering you keep talking of INVESTIGATING RECORDS OR something of the sort when a lot of the government’s own activities against the people went unrecorded. How do you think we have survived in Nigerian markets and dominating Nigerian industries for more that 30years, I dare say I know more about this country than you do. Lol . . . . I can tell you that you know little of what actually goes on in that country to date. Your post comes off as seriously naïve when you claim you have it all RECORDED somewhere. No, you do not. To this day, it if FACT that a lot more happens in that country than is ever actually recorded. To claim to RELY on records goes a long way in showing how little you know of the country. That you did not see, does not mean it never happened. That you did not actually witness the riots in some neighborhoods does not mean they never happened. That your sources never recorded them does not mean it never happened. I would rather you tell us here that you actually went out in the streets to ask folks who were in the country during the same time what really happened. If we were discussing a country like South Africa or Zimbabwe back in the early 90’s, then you could tell me of Records as I do know those countries at least did a better job at keeping those. But telling me you have Nigerian records PROVING no such happened is as ridiculous as claiming nobody has died of cholera in Zimbabwe all through last year. Surviving Nigerian market is NO FEAT considering the market is open to any company or organization able to sit on the wall as it is. Not sure what surviving Nigerian market has to do with anything real in this case. Even UNICEF, which has been in Nigeria for about that long CANNOT make the claims you have today of RECORDS of happenings in Nigeria in the area which they focus on. Check UNICEF and you are bound to get estimates and NO DEFINITE FACTS. We are talking of the same 1991-1993 when General Ibrahim Babangida, the father of it all, was president of Nigeria? Are you telling us all that The Nigerian police, during those years, ensured the safety of all Liberians (those relocated to Nigeria by the UN, as well as those who jumped the border) in Nigeria? Is that what you are saying here? Regardless of where you ACTUALLY lived all that time, are you saying that You somehow missed all the riots, and GRAFFITTI on the walls of streets in Ikeja, Yaba and many other areas in Lagos, calling for Liberians to get out of Nigeria, during said period? Did you by any chance also miss the 1993 june 12th riots, cause I think this may be heading that way next Sorry what streets in Lagos do you refer to.
So, all the Liberian beggars back then, just 70 in your count? ****shudders****. Nigerians would not kill any foreigner ever? WOW!!! Don’t worry, if that belief works for you, then fine. Up until last year, we all believed same of South Africans. In fact, many in South Africa believed the foreigners were the bad ones considering there are records of foreigners committing crimes against South Africans and even their own. Suddenly, South Africans are killers because of a riot earlier this year were some idiots in the country resorted to killing foreigners, out of hate. And I and so many other foreigners and Nigerians can tell you like wise (that you are the one who is dead wrong). I have read them to. Please quote them so we can debate the facts. You have? I seriously doubt that. HUH?? You really do not read posts, do you? I have said it OVER AND OVER Now that everyone is entitled to an OPINION on this but . . . . (I would rather you actually go back to read my posts to understand the points I have made so far cause I think it is futile trying to repeat the same here). About your CLAIM that Italians or folks from developed nations have no love for their nation as Nigerians do, may I suggest you actually VISIT THE REAL WORLD. As for folks who know what you are saying here, from the looks of things you have more against you than you have in your favour. All I see are people insulting you and criticizing your posts. Men good luck with that.
Does insulting me somehow NULLIFY the points I have made? Does Insulting my person somehow mean I AM WRONG? I don’t know what world you live in, but that actually is SURE SIGN that I am hitting a real nerve and the problem is NOT necessarily ME or MY VIEW but the other individual. You do not know this? Please, ignore my posts because I am not in the mood to argue with folks who MANUFACTURE facts that are not even close to what is obtained, especially in a place like Nigeria, a country where most REAL FACTS are never actually recorded by the government or even organizations because the government does all it can to cover up as much as it can. We just sat through book haram and saw how your shining police force claimed they had to shoot the “leader of book haram” in self defense. Now, I know you will probably come up with the “It happens everywhere argument” but sorry, that is not the point here.

Sorry my friend but, don't go down this path with Nork. I understand his anger, although its not my style to use words in his fashion but, if I were Nigerian, maybe I would react the same way. Trying to take him on will only just put you and him at pistols reach. If you want to say anything to him then encourage him to calm down (he has a right to be angry) because I have seen your post and you don't support the movie either.
noted. thanks.

Aha, !!!! Just as I said, HEAR SAY!!!!!! Whether or not you admit it. And that's exactly has been my point from the very beginning. You are more concerned with condemning and running down your country more than the movie even does. You witnessed a couple of riots and you have generalized your opinion from a couple of riots, in which (I guess) you saw Nigerian's murdering Liberians? Come at me again!!!! What could you cover up in Nigeria that a Western nation like ours does not know about or is not even a party too. ?? Do you know just how much of your money Banbangida channeled through Europe into private accounts, and you sit there and think for one minute that we don't know? ?? Let me tell you, sadly as much as I hate to admit it WE, (European and Western Nations) are part of the cause of the underdevelopment in Nigeria!!!!!!! There is nothing that happens in your country that we don't know, so as for my facts, if Nigeria does not keep records, we do. And for your information, you can bring out the truth just by listening to a lie. You claim a lot more happens in this country than I know, yet you have generally failed to mention the extras that go on which I have not mentioned. All you have mentioned are personal experiences and I don't think you have lived up to 50 years, so what valid conclusions can be draw from your personal experiences alone? ?? In fact I dare say that you are not telling the truth because to refute and argument means that you evidence to support your arguments. If I have records that are estimates of events that took place, it is far better than accepting a presupposed view that has no recorded evidence what so ever. All you have said is may have, might have, you did not see,, !!!!!! Have you ever been to a police station in Nigeria to do research or to volunteer yourself for any UN task and viewed their records by chance? ?? HEAR SAY!!!! How can you even ask me whether I go into the streets to get information when one of the first rules of investigating is to draw your primary data from direct source. Even estimates as you mentioned must follow this rule in computing data. I don't understand why you would even ask that kind of question, am I talking to the same guy. Did you by any chance also miss the 1993 June 12th riots, cause I think this may be heading that way next Oh my God! Are you saying that this is a lie even without verifying? ? Are you saying that we did not relocate 500 Liberians through the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Immigrations? Are you saying that the June 12th election was about Nigerians killing Liberians or rather was it about the election of MKO Abiola? ?? Graffiti on the walls of Ikeja, and Yaba that I have seen for the last 20 years. I guess you painted them yourself. What puzzles me the most is that there are other Nigerians seeing your post, I hope they know that you are definately not telling the truth and, possibly, possibly, you are not as Nigerian as you claim. You are right I should ignore your post because, really your issues with Nigeria goes further than their depiction in District 9. All the points you have put forward clearly show you know little about the country than you actually do(because you have relied primarily on information that either took place close to your house or what someone has told you) No real tangible evidence to support your argument and to make matters worse you don't even live in Nigeria right now so, all the information you get at the point in time is also hear say. I dare ask, how long have you been out of Nigeria (if you really are a Nigerian) ??, and as for your posts I read them all. Clearly, you had no intention of putting forward an argument, rather, your intention was to run down Nigerians who were complaining. Some of your posts are the reason why some people have taken to insulting you and others, because your strategy back then, was to annoy rather than to convince. Yet you think you are better than those with the foul words. Sorry men you are not, you are just a Nigerian (if you are) who has no love for his country, who would rather run away and say he is Nigerian from far away and size every opportunity to condemn and find everything wrong with his country. The whole racist stuff you mentioned in the past were just points (doubt the authenticity based on your reliance on hear say information) you needed to put forward because some guys with strong words attacked South Africa with racism (which was not the argument in the first place). All I can say at this point is that you are a lesson to real Nigerians. When you go running down your country and providing every TOM, privates and HARRY with information (no matter how false) on your country, then people who know nothing will act and make remarks that they don't have a clue about in an authoritative manner.

@Nork Thanks. Keep the attitude my friend. I feel your anger, it clear and direct in your words, and I guess that if some of these post I read about Nigeria where about Italy or the movie itself was about Italians, I can assure you that the producers and all the Italians who help trash our country would be bound by the same fate. We don't take crap, not from our own and especially not from a foreigner.
@Morpheus24. Thanks. Trust me, Kobojunkie is the kind of Nigerian you don't need and he definitely speaks for himself and a few like him, definitely not for the Nigerians I know. No one who truly desires to make a difference in his country will condemn the same country to the point his as done, using arguments based on little or no evidence and even refuting the chance that his country has even done something right at any point in time.
@Ezeagu: Thanks, I am bowing.

Oh!! I see where this is now. I am BAD because I freely speak of what is wrong with my Country and so can never wish it well. Good luck with that thinking. If it works for you, who am I to deny you that.
I won't respond and point out the holes in your case and argument there as it seems this is definitely going nowhere. I already stated where I stand on this and many others have done same. that's all that matters.

Hey, nice to have you back. Missed you for a while there. I quite agree, this is getting nowhere and I wouldn't want us to get to foul language level, so you have your stand and I guess I have mine. No hard feelings, no loss, and like someone already pointed out some sanity is returning to this forum. No withstanding I respect your views and your opinions even if completely disagree with them, I must say I had fun debating. Thank you.
