Tgs 09: "29 Years" Required To Complete All Lbp Content

Sony's press conference at the Tokyo Game Show has started, and Kaz Hirai - lookin' good in that spiffy suit and salmon pink shirt - has kicked things off with LittleBigPlanet.

He has started by talking about the importance of growing online communities and the eight corresponding elements (watch, create, communication, learn, listen, play, share and discover), and in so doing, he has let a few very cool statistics slip. I mean, these are mind-boggling. There are already over 2 million pieces of user-generated content in the game, which means it would take over "29 years" to play it all! That's a statistic we could never have imagined even ten years ago, but Hirai and Co. insist upon the PlayStation Network's expansion, and LBP has always been a great multiplayer and community generator. If you didn't already know, Sony will be replacing the standard version with the Game of the Year Edition of LittleBigPlanet and it boasts about $30 worth of extra content from the Store. But hey, if we're talking about 2 million pieces of added content, all created by your fellow gaming brethren, just think about how much more you can do with Sackboy once you really get involved? The longevity of this bad boy just keeps rising and rising so if you don't already have LBP in your collection, now's the time.

Okay, they're moving on to the PS3 Slim and the upcoming holiday lineup, so stick close to your seats everyone.
